So I've got lots of travel plans coming up... that_pope has volunteered to reveal questions 6 and 8, which I appreciate.

I still need someone to reveal Question 7 on June 9th, and I probably need another guest reveal for Question 9, on June 30th. I'll be in the middle of working a five-12's-in-6-days stretch so they don't fire me while I do all this travelling, lol.

There were 6 correct answers, and 40 incorrect answers.

The SHEEP correct answer is 4, which means that several people will be activating the incorrect penalty.

The two incorrect answers that will be triggering the extra sheep bonus are as follows:

The first incorrect bonus SHEEP was played by 7 of you. Walker Buehler pitched a great game last night, but that was enough to lower his ERA from 4.03 on the June 2nd deadline to 3.69.

The other incorrect bonus SHEEP was played by myself and 5 others. Trevor Bauer started off the season strong, having under a 2 ERA nearing the end of April. Since then it has nearly doubled and sits at 3.87.

Next up we have last year's NL Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom. Nobody expected him to repeat a 1.70 ERA, but more than doubling it to 3.49 makes him incorrect for this question.

The other player guessed by 4 of you isn't a Cy Young winner, but has finished top 6 the last 7 seasons. Chris Sale would need quite a miracle to keep that streak alive as he sits at 1-7 with a 4.35 ERA, but he has already improved upon his horrible April start where he started the year with a 6.3 ERA.

DeGrom's teammate has struggled mightily this season and the 3 of you that picked Noah Syndergaard had as little hope as the Sale pickers as he currently sports a 4.90 ERA.

3 more participants chose Gerrit Cole, who missed as well with a 3.94 ERA.

Tied for the closest miss is the best pitcher over the last 6 seasons. 3 of you chose Max Scherzer, and if his ERA finished above 3, it will only be the 2nd time in the last 7 seasons, as he is currently at 3.06.

Like Bauer, another pitcher who hasn't built off of his 2018 breakout despite a 6-1 record is Aaron Nola. Selected by 2 of you, he currently has a 4.63 ERA.

Onto the would-be aces. Starting off with the pitchers sporting a >4 ERA.

Corey Kluber and his early injury led to him being the worst answer for this question. He sported the highest ERA of the pitchers selected along with the fewest innings pitched. He barely got in above the 30 inning minimum, sporting a 5.80 ERA over 35.2 innings.

Booker Wolfbox

The next pitcher had an amazing breakout last year, but has taken a step back in his 2nd season as a full time starter. Miles Mikolas has a 4.41 ERA.

Schlitz mmmm

The last pitcher finishing with a greater than 4 ERA is Jameson Taillon at 4.10.

With just under a 4 ERA, Steven Matz sits with 3.97.

Needle77

Jack Flaherty was a popular sleeper/breakout pick this offseason, and is almost living up to the hype with a 3.76 ERA.

Nittery

Julio Teheran is having a decent bounceback situation, and with one more great performance could have been correct with his 3.28 ERA.

The next pitcher is entering the transition phase of his career from the most dominant pitcher in baseball to an above average pitcher. Can he complete the transition like Verlander, or will he continue to decline like Felix Hernandez? Clayton Kershaw sits at a 3.20 ERA for the season.

redirkulous

And our last would be ace and tied for the narrowest miss was Blake Snell. With a 3.06 ERA in 61.2 innings, he just needed 1 and 1/3 more innings completed to sit at exactly a 3.00 ERA.

We had a total of 3 correct answers chosen by 6 participants. That means the non Buehler and Bauer incorrects will receive 7 points while those will get 10 and 9 points respectively.

Here are the 16 correct answers that weren't played!

Mike Soroka - 1.41 ERA
Tyler Glasnow - 1.86
Jake Odorizzi - 1.96
Zach Davies - 2.20
Rich Hill - 2.25
Chris Paddack - 2.40
Luis Castillo - 2.45
Charlie Morton - 2.54
Lucas Giolito - 2.54
Mike Minor - 2.74
Ryne Stanek - 2.78
John Means - 2.80
Frankie Montas - 2.81
David Price - 2.83
Spencer Turnbull - 2.84
Marcus Stroman - 2.84

Not sure if Stanek officially qualifies as a starting pitcher, but he has officially started the most games and has more than 30 innings pitched. No one chose him so I didn't have to make an executive decision.

Just like last question, the correct sheep answer was Justin Verlander. He has continued his excellence and along with his league leading 9 wins, has a 2.27 ERA to go along with it.

The first ace just barely made it. He was at a 3.11 ERA while sitting on the IL, came off last Wed and pitched 4 scoreless innings in his first start back to lower it to 2.81. The Yankees big offseason splash in James Paxton is the first of our aces.

The other ace has undoubtedly been the best pitcher in baseball so far in 2019. While his ERA is stellar at 1.48, his lack of giving up the free pass has really been impressive. Just 5 walks in 73 innings, he is averaging 1 walk per 2+ starts. Hyun-Jin Ryu is our final ace and the current NL front-runner for the Cy Young award.
