Let me give an example to illustrate.

10 people choose A, which is incorrect.
7 people choose B, which is correct and the SHEEP.
There are 6 correct answers chosen.

Everyone who chose A will have a score of 10 + 6, while everyone else who was incorrect but less SHEEPy will have a score of 7 + 6.

So it punishes SHEEPy answers and doesn't reward massive SHEEPs for being incorrect.

To elaborate, let's go a bit more extreme:

20 people choose A, which is incorrect.
7 people choose B, which is correct and the SHEEP.
There are 6 correct answers chosen.
Everyone who picked a wrong answer with 7 or less people guessing it will be said to have chosen C.

Original scoring system: A = 13, C = 13
KrazyKris NFL scoring system: A = 26, C = 26
JM3 EPL scoring system: A = 20, C = 13
TJ's MLB scoring system: A = 26, C = 13

You're saying there are two more popular incorrects than the correct SHEEP.

in that case D would just be the correct SHEEP score (7) + 6 corrects, for 13

They were still wrong, but they didn't follow the flock as bad as those moron 20 A pickers

This in no way reflects on the distribution of answers I've already received, which I haven't even analyzed that closely yet... other than trying to get people in the right league or discerning between SP and RP.

Bottom line, try not to be incorrect, and if you are incorrect, don't be a part of massive groupthink, which I think is in the spirit of all reverse-SHEEP contests
