I was in 4th to last place after question 5. Let’s just pretend those never existed and I’ll take a podium spot thanks.

Sounds good, thanks! Even though this is a lost season for me.

Of all the things I did wrong this season, underestimating Ron Gardenhire's incredible dedication to hitting guys with .250ish OBPs in front of his actual Major League-caliber hitters may be the worst.

Thanks TJ this has been a ton of fun, especially as I have no idea what my own picks ever are.

Before I get started tonight, how AWESOME have these playoffs been? I've been a neutral observer since my BRAVES got eliminated, (even though they WON the one game that I went to).

For all the bellyaching about how the rising "three true outcomes" rate have destroyed the watchability of the regular season, it seems like EVERY playoff game has come down to either a back-breaking home run, or a clutch strikeout in a HUGE spot. Sometimes with multiple moments like that in one game.

So I could start with another apology about how I didn't (and don't) plan very well, that I don't even know why I bother trying to put out a schedule that I could stick to, because I clearly don't.

I'll just say that I've greatly underestimated the physical toll it would take starting a new job with long hours and how much I've loved sleep, drinking, and sports (in some order), in my limited off time. But the good news is the job is going great, so there's that.

And that hasn't been conducive to my PEEHS reveal schedule.

But it's all good! I have IPA's and I can sleep in tomorrow, so...

NO SLEEP tonight until 3 REVEALS are done, setting up for the FINAL REVEAL!

For this question, we had 34 correct answers, and 23 incorrect answers.

We'll start by reviewing the incorrects first.

Our most popular incorrect was played by 5 players. Stephen Strasburg missed some time and came up just short of the qualifier, with 130 IP, but he finished with a WHIP of 1.20, so he missed this question anyway.

Our next most popular incorrect was played by 4 people. Noah Syndergaard also missed some time this year, and he actually did qualify at 151.1 IP, but missed the question with a WHIP of 1.21.

Our other would-be 3-pointer never really got going this season, as Robbie Ray battled a litany of injuries. He finished a WHIP of 1.35 over 123.2 IP, but at least the slider is still sharp, with a K/9 over 12.

Our next incorrect was played by 2 contestants. Luis Severino sure started off hot, but wore down as the season went on. Still, the overall numbers look fine, though ultimately incorrect for this question, at a 1.14 WHIP over 191.1 IP.

Our next incorrect, also played by 2 people, is Severino's Yankee teammate Masahiro Tanaka. Despite a preternatural ability to keep his WHIP down by being correct for this question 3 out of the last 4 years, he's still inexplicably susceptible to The Long Soul-Crushing Home Run. He finished with a WHIP of 1.13 over 156 IP.

Now we're down to the would-be ace-hunters, which I'll reveal alphabetically. The noted DAMN GOOD GEORGIA BULLDOG Alex Wood turned in a fine season for the Dodgers, but missed for this question, by posting a 1.21 WHIP over 151.2 IP.

Our next incorrect is Jake Arrieta. I think into Year 1 of the "We're CONTENDING NOW!" Philadelphia Phillies, they're probably thinking they paid sticker price for about 75% of the production they'd hoped for. Anyway, Arrieta finished with a 1.29 WHIP over 172.2 IP.

Our next incorrect is a guy I've tended to overvalue in fantasy, as Kyle Hendricks' "pitch ground balls to contact in front of a great defense" approach has tended to outperform his peripherals. That's been more true of past years than this year, however, as he finishes 2018 with a WHIP of a still-very-good 1.15 over 199 IP. That's a lot of innings to eat, so I'm guessing Cubs fans are happy.
