I don't follow hockey a lot. Doesn't that type of play happen all the time? I see players slammed into the boards a lot. Why is this any different? Or is the rule you can hit the guy as hard as you want as long as there's no blood?

I'm like you. A total amateur hockey watcher. It DOES seem to me that that play happens all the time. If they didn't call anything or if they just called a regular power play I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But I guess what we saw actually doesn't happen all the time and that was a totally standard call for the refs...at least that's what I'm now assuming.
