People suggesting Ke$ha: You really think anyone over 25 wants to hear Ke$ha or would like hearing her? There are far more people over the age of 25 watching this than people say between the ages of 13-25.

They should let Don Mischer handle these halftime shows until he ****s up because he has had Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, and Bruce.

It's going to be hard to appeal to everyone, but far more people are going to be appealed to with these artists rather than some random **** artist today.

too lazy to read this whole thread, but:
-BEP are pretty good in general. I still changed the channel/did other stuff during halftime, but seems like too much hate for them unless they completely blew it.
-Stanford band ftw Superbowl 12!

I hate the Black Eyes Peas. They are the nadir of pop music, they can't even produce good poppy trash like La Roux, their music is so bad that DJ's don't even try remixing their songs. However since it was the Super Bowl halftime show I raised my expectations to that of a Muse show: ****** music, brilliant spectacle. They delivered on the first part, but completely whiffed on the second part. I have a dozen friends who would have done a better job mixing than the Fox crew ... maybe it is just impossible to make Fergie sound good. Will.I.Am was autotuned and he still sounded terrible. The only spectacle of this halftime show was watching these frauds make asses of themselves in front of a billion people. Hopefully FOX will learn from this debacle and try to get a halftime show that features musicians who have released a decent album in the past 10 years and can perform live.

I have it on good authority that my irl namesake's band would bring down the house.

Of course, that would be after everyone leaves the stadium because their ears can't stand the squealing.

So, who do you all think they should have do halftime? Seriously. Please take everything into consideration:
1. $$$
2. NFL Conservatism (although this is easing up, imo)
3. $$$
4. Relevance of artist
5. $$$

I'd love to hear suggestions.
A couple of artists come to mind: jay z, beyonce, red hot chili peppers, Billy Joel, weezer...I don't know there are 100 other bands or artists that could have done a much better job with the show. No one in BEP can sing or dance or rap anymore. They just stood there screaming through auto tune, so very lame.

They need to bring back the trio that performed at halftime of XXVI:

Gloria Estefen
Brian Boitano
Dorothy Hamill

Weezer would actually be good. They're conservative enough visually and actually can play some high octane rock which befits the power of the Super Bowl, while appealing to the mainstream masses.

The BEPs was maybe the worst performance I can remember. At least when The Who and the Stones and Paul McCartney (ugg that was bad) were playing you could appreciate that they were rock gods at one point in time. This thing last night was just awful. And the gimmick of Slash and Usher just made me feel sorry for Fergie. It's like she called her friends and said "can you guys help me? I suck at music"

Thanks for commenting on the ht show you didnt even watch. Outstanding.

G10 you're just wrong about this one, it really ****ing blew. They couldn't dance, they couldn't sing, and the sound was awful. Ur-sher, however, killed it and quickly made it obvious a) why BEP sucked and b) that he should have been the act.

the funny thing imo is that im sure they got paid a handsome salary to do the show and everyone who has a chance would snap accept performing at the superbowl for exposure reasons. however, from everyone ive heard they say it was a career ending performance and that they will boycott there songs and records to the point where it was probably minus ev to perform, lol.

There are plenty of bands that won't "snap-accept" that performance, much less do it for a lot of money. It's really risky if you **** up and like someone else said, it's probably tough to get the acoustics great.

Anyone thinking this was good either has no thumbs or is just arguing for argument sake. It wasn't entertaining, trainwrecks aren't entertaining. The Kid Rock Thanksgiving day American Flag crap was an abortion too.

Prince was bad ass, they need to bring him back...of course, he may not show up.

Also, I agree that the Super Bowl halftime show is supposed to be along the same theme of the entire experience, watered down, heavy marketed, mass appeal - not ****ing Sufjan Stevens wtf? There is nothing wrong with that, but why not super group performances? Those are always at least interesting to me. You can hate a couple but you are probably going to at least like someone on the stage and the sh*tty talent gets hidden a little more. Put some nice ass up there with an old classic musical talent with a couple current male dancer/singers and then a rapper all doing a mix of pop, classic rock and some current stuff. Easy game.

and i generally like the BEP and i didnt mind them even being stiff in their performance last night, but the audio was SO BAD

the volume of the mics was constantly changing, fergie's wasn't even turned on at first...

at one point she started belting out a high note and feedbacked the mic and they had to snap cut teh audio... and all of the audio just seemed "weak." It was like they had to choose between feedback/ear-screeching loud or sort of dulled and quiet... and they changed their minds 4 times in the performance.

im not saying it was just the audio, obviously, but that was i think the most inexcusable thing about the entire performance. how do you mess that up?
