You may have never heard of it, but there's something called the "Unofficial Football World Championships."
Someone went all the way back to the first International game and treated the winner of the game as the "champion" and holder of the belt. Since this includes friendlies, the winner changes a lot.
The first champion was England, winner of the second International game between England and Scotland (the first was a draw).
Since then, the "championship" has gone through many countries, up to the start of the World Cup when Uruguay was the holder. Since Costa Rica beat Uruguay, they became the UFWC champion. CRC retained the title by beating Italy.
You can see where this is going. CRC's last group game is against England. Should England win that game, they will leave Brazil as the World Champions and will not lose the title until the friendlies pre-Euro 2016 qualifying. (Obviously, should CRC win or draw, whoever wins the World Cup will leave as the UFWC.)
So cheer up, England.
