Suadi Arabia is usually pretty weak so it's a poor test, but 18-0 is still impressive. Taipei played played 5 regional games without giving up a run.


And as a followup to my earlier post the Pearland team is indeed one of two 12 year old all star teams from pearland. So that team is only from half of Pearland's player pool. I'm kinda concerned that in game 1 our 3-4 pitchers couldn't throw strikes very well.


About the mandatory play rule. I like it. This is not high level baseball, it's little league. The parents have paid a lot in travel money and spent tons of time with kids that have made it this far. It would be ridiculous for them to not play.

Also, it's sad as much money as little League has that they get volounteer umpires for this instead of grading umpires during the year and paying the best umpires to go to Williamsport. There are too many missed calls with 6 umps out there and too many ball/strike calls that are terrible.

advance doesn't even really mean much. if they lose to taipei, then they play panama again. then the winner of that game just plays taipei again. and even if we luckbox and win it, we'd have to beat them a second time. really happy with canada's win vs. panama though and looking forward to tomorrows game. basically we need to ensure our ace pitcher is available vs. panama assuming we lose tomorrow. although it would be incredible to beat taipei, i'm not expecting it.

And yeah, that was a bit of a curb-stomping, but the lolcanada kids seemed pretty content with it. I guess the difference between 15-0 and 20-0 is nothing, while the difference between 2-2 and 7-2 is quite a lot, mentally.

well i guess they weren't really clowning while they were doing it, they were just playing as if the game was tied.

the whole format of this tournament is ******ed. canada could potentially play 5 games. 2 vs. panama, and 3 vs. chinese taipei. which means they never play saudi who is in their division.

it's just dumb how it works. it should be round robin in the division, top 2 advance and 1 plays 2 cross-division.

this double elimination stuff is stupid. the way the schedule works is stupid. i mean if you play saudi your first game, you use your 6th string pitcher, and save all your good guys for the next 2 games. if you play panama game one, you gotta use up your ace, and he's essentially done for the rest of the tournament. little league is getting an email.

Living here in Williamsport.. I think I went to Lamade to watch a game about 3 or 4 times in my entire life. None in 5+ years. I see the old Chinese Taipei tricks are back.

I know as of 5 years ago it was like this...round robin 3 games, you play everybody in your pool and top 2 advance. not sure why they switched.
