Haha, ok. As a sort of related aside, would Allan Houston ever be a good GM? I have no sense of this. I mean, he doesn't seem dumb?

The drama continues for the Knicks. I think everyone saw this coming I would like to see him finish off the season and make some bold coaching moves. Feel sorry for him but I agree he had to go.

Looks like this is Melo's team now.

I think the odds just went up that Jeremy Lin will at some point become the backup PG to Baron Davis. Davis seems to be a better fit for Melo. They might try Lin at the 2 but too many guys vying for the 2 right now.

Uh, if Lin can't outplay fat out of shape old Baron for the starting job, then his chances of having a solid career in the NBA are pretty low. (And Davis is still a chucker, hardly a good fit for Melo.) For Lin, that's why I like D'Antoni leaving - gives him a chance to prove he's got what it takes without a coach deeply indebted to him.

Nice pull. Mainstream media has only been speculating about this for the past 2 years.

My only issue is that with that type of iso plays that Melo wants, everything becomes more man-to-man. Not Jlin's strong suit, something more tailored to Baron's slashing ways. But you're right, Jlin got to adjust, no hand-holding in the NBA.

The real question is how did Melo convince everyone he was a superstar? Melo has never gotten out of the first round of the playoffs. Also Denver improved after Melo left.
The top players improved the play of their teammates. Melo makes his teammates play worst. This was Chamberlain's problem early in his career. His teammates stood around and watched him play. Russell made his teammates play better. Chamberlain didn't win a NBA title til he allowed his teammates to be part of the offense.

D'Antoni, imo was fired. Melo even said after the game tonight that D'Antoni was there to lead shoot around this morning - with everything being normal. Why do that if you're only going to resign your position a few hours later?

Tas Melas ‏ @TasMelas

One thing James Dolan glossed over in the Knicks presser: In the end, D'Antoni said he'd stay on, but management thought it's best he go.
