We all like the drama of a restart but let's be honest, it's very artificial and entertainment should not be a factor when deciding on those things. Was obvious race should have ended under a safety car but public doesn't like it so red flag and then carnage follows

One day there's going to be a bad accident on one of those artifical restarts and it's going to feel dumb

I briefly followed NASCAR, but it got too ridiculous with the restarts. Made most of the passes pointless until the end and race feels totally manufactures. When they went to separate race stints (for moar restarts) I gave up for good.

We were at the race with someone going for the first time. Glad I wasn't the one trying to explain it all. We were at turn 3 so saw quite a bit of action as well. Best race I have seen live. The entire weekend was fun as the F2 and F3 races also had lots of things happening.

This is why you don't do a standing start with 2 laps left. What did they think was going to happen?

At the beginning of the race drivers know they can make up a lost place. You have 16 drivers all desperately trying to pass the drivers in front of them all at the same time. Of course it ends in a cluster-****.

But just on a side note about the quality of the racing which was terrific in all classes of racing but Albert Park with all those new detection zones and track changes is now a top 5 circuit on the calendar for racing action. Really good job on the re-design how the track flows like it does.
