From Max sht’ing on them yesterday and the nightmare today, it looks like the whole event might’ve been too big and they did not rehearse enough.

Everyone and their mother is crapping on them online, from the circus of huge opening ceremony, locals being inconvenienced for many months and some small business around the construction area losing a lot of business.

What started out as a fun inaugural event has turned into a huge headache. Since the race will be here for years to come, perhaps they should build a track away from the strip in the future.
Visually, it won’t be as nice but at least a lot of concerns and complaints will be avoided.
I piss on the locals and I’m a local

Way too much crying. Vegas is entertainment capital of the world trying to become a major sports player.

If don’t like it move away from immediate Strip area or in middle of Nevada or Iowa if don’t want to bothered

You are very much in the minority if you think that what has transpired so far is anything other than a black stain on the sport.

I want to see the local road maintenance program for street circuits that are constant features on the calendars because I can guarantee you that those governments would be paying extra attention to those roads. A real shame and perhaps one not too unexpected in a place like Las Vegas not used to holding an event like this or indeed any motorsport that its southern neighbouring states would.

Self parking at casinos this weekend $70 to $100, valet $100 to $130. Occupancy at the four major casinos at 40%. Restaurants empty, some have closed for a few days. F1 ticket prices reducing by the day, scalpers won’t be happy. I haven’t heard that FP1 (9 mins) or FP2 (0 mins) ticket holders will get any kind or refund.*

Suggestions that Austin and Vegas will be swapped in 2024 due to the weather. Vegas would probably be Oct 11-13, you have to have a weekend off after Vegas if you’re racing so late.

*just reading that Thursday ticket holders have been offered a $200 voucher to the Las Vegas Grand Prix Official Shop

Do locals even go near there if they are not working?

What are they going to do with that pit building the rest of the year? Some kind of F1 experience?

Wesley from HCL paying 400K a night for suite in Caesars Palace. Big money being thrown down within the perimeter.

But yeah maybe it might be tough to get inside and unless you are there for F1 you aren’t going to waste time going in. This means more economy activity going on outside the perimeter, which everyone conveniently ignores

So far just a small bump in the road, pun intended

But let’s see what happens Saturday night

Why have an event start at 7am in places where people give a **** about F1 when you can start it at 4am instead?

Wow... the track, FINALLY under full load of the F1 cars, really began to shine in qualifying... after that rocky start to the weekend, this is really looking like it is going to be a great track/event going forward.

17 is really where you want to be sitting gong forward. Just looked, 2500 for two tickets in that first grand stand section... not bad I guess.

No one has the right to jam up the bridge. The bridge is for moving from one side to the other.

You’re starting to annoy me.

I’ve seen the incorrect stuff you’re posting in the other thread.

No I think you are annoying yourself. Searching for any small reason to hate on the race.

People are not supposed to be standing on the bridge. It’s supposed to keep moving. It’s not ok for one but not for all.

Understand?

Regarding the other thread I’m quite certain I’ve corrected the matter more often than been corrected. The one thing I did not know at first was about the stands cleared for labor laws. But they still need to get in the practice thus people need to get over it

This is for people discussing the race.

I actually agree with this. If you let a few people watch from the bridge, it won’t take long before a crowd of people start watching. With all the people walking around it becomes a mess.

Personally I wouldn’t go up to people and yell like that but if you’re too nice people often are more disrespectful to you.

Yea and that appears to be the local Vegas security handling all of that. I saw several lower level officers getting chewed out for not enforcing people walking. And you don’t know how many times a specific person might have been told

Anyhow, this shouldn’t be the thread for upset locals

Let’s exit stage left and clear the thread for F1 fans and actual race talk

There were two groups in the wrong. Those potentially blocking the bridge if they didn’t move on, and those moving them on aggressively.
Sometimes both sides can be wrong.

Something I still don't get is, who is this race for??

In the US East Coast the race starts at 1am and in the UK I think it starts at 6am.

Most people in the Americas aren't going to watch live or maybe ever. Maybe it's convenient for people in the ME?? It just seems like this will be the least watched live race all year.

The race is at this time as a compromise between the times Vegas is willing to block all traffic and making it possible to view it live in Europe. Despite the progress made in USA viewership the main market for F1 is still Europe.
