Alonso as the bad guy in DTS was silly. Ocon was last year's bad guy with his anti team actions. Add to this the unreliability that Alonso had, his move to AM is very much understood (+ probably some extra salary)

The Max and Checo conflict got obviously veto-ed by Max

RICs departure getting more airtime than Vettel's is obviously because RIC has been a main protagonist in all seasons of DTS, while Vettel almost never appeared in the series.

Predictably looks like Red Bull is going to win everything this year, but luckily we have Alonso here to keep us entertained.

Also lol Ferrari...just like last year.

A LOVELY drive for Alonso... hopefully the team can keep up the pressure thru the entire season.

what kind of veto right do the drivers have?

Give and take imo. It's showbiz so obviously the most entertaining moments get shown but if A-listers have a request, there is no choice but cooperate. Currently, RedBull and Max are the endbosses of F1 so Netflix has no choice but give in.

They do not want another drama of Max boycotting the show.
Business GTO move. Sky sports pissed them off when Ted said Lewis got robbed and RB pulled a hissy fit for a week.

Netflix just cannot freely annoy drivers and expect to continue next year with equal collaboration.

Why was Alonso painted as a bad guy? Because he was OK with it and even threw some oil on the fire. if you have followed last years season, you will know that Alsono was more the victim and his team mate and unreliable engine the real antagonists of the story.

Not sure how many drivers have veto right but Max was unhappy with the narratives around him and the out of context comments and just refused to be interviewed which looks bad when it is the WDC and possible future goat. So DtS changed their format quite a bit when other drivers threatened to follow and it is definitely less fake rivalries.

But there’s a difference between freely annoying drivers and documenting and dramatising one of the biggest stories of the year…and one that was clearly true. I mean it’s a dramatised documentation of the season rather than a pure doco but still…

I get it if it’s a business decision they’re making that they’d rather have Max’s involvement than not and they thought/he threatened that if they ran it then he was ‘out’. But I was interested in whether he/others actually had a formal veto

If there is a formal veto then Netflix/DtS would never admit there was but I don't think there is one. The background of the Checo/Max incident is very controversial with accusations Checo intentionally caused a red flag to keep Max behind him in Monaco. You can't just show the race and not the background and no matter how you show that background you bring not only issues for RedBull but also FIA about intentional yellow and red flags in qualifying which is rumoured to be a lot more common than people realise.

Why doesn't that surprise me - sounds too pretentious for my liking

Bump for the PEEHS game for this year. Only have a handful of entries this year, and it would only take 20 mins to throw some answers together if you want in.

Alonso’s last win:
Spanish GP, 12 May 2013

Alonso’s last 2nd place:
Hungarian GP, 27 July 2014

Alonso’s last consecutive podium:
Singapore GP, 22 September 2013

No driver has won races 7+ years apart.

If Alonso wins he would be the 7th oldest man to do so, the 10th man in his 40s and the oldest since Nigel Mansell in 1994.

Perez gets his first win from pole, but Max denies him a maiden hat trick and the lead in the championship.

Bummer if Alonso loses 3rd.

Pathetic how teams still make dumb fundamental errors. Can’t make these simple mistakes in F1.

Hope he gets to keep 3rd place Lights out and here we go! - 2023 Formula 1

Sucks.
Screwed the start which parlayed into more penalties.

Russell seems to always grind out decent results. Lewis will get beat again this year.
