I guess Checo is either completely mailing it in or shattered mentally. He was never gonna be as fast as Max, but was usually qualifying like 2nd-4th. Now it's a big deal if he can even make Q3 lol. In the last 11 races, Belgium (3rd) is the only time he even qualified top 4. Surely that is so poor that he'll be out.

To some extent he can get bailed out because the car is so fast and he can make up places during the race but all these racing mistakes too

I believe he’d be certainly sacked if Marko didn’t make the offensive statement. That dumb comment earned Checo another year perhaps. PR wise, Would look soooooo bad if they let him go now and don’t fulfill the contract agreement.

But more errors each week, are making the decision easier to reasonable to execute. With public understanding.

The guy has completely melted down mentally, the superiority of Max has screwed with this mental state so bad, even more than Lando owning Ricciardo.

It’s like your girl constantly bragging about another dude and telling you how much you suck. Any man would get severely destroyed emotionally. Family dinners, social media, “Max this, Max that” the press constantly asking about your F ups.

RB now have 4 drivers with 3 seats. Yuki, Ricc locked would make sense for someone to fill Checo’s seat.

Apparently RB have GUARANTEED Liam a seat for 2025, so maybe they’ll let Checo drive out his 2024 contract. Liam has to sit out one year.

Easy then - replace Checo with Albon. Lawson can go to Williams for a year. Checo can replace Sargent as that North American driver the team owners want. Lawson replaces Yuki for 2025 and Yuki becomes reserve driver at Aston.

Step in the right direction, Checo hired a mental coach. Good he knows his leaks at least.

Sheesh, he waited until 33? I would've guessed that a mental coach is standard for every driver, even ones that aren't obviously going through a massive meltdown.

Isn't that what a personal assistant/physiotherapist is to some drivers?

Well let's look at it - if Red bull are going to dominate you may as well make the contest interesting by making it a close fight between team-mates. They are going to win anyway. Good for audiences and good for sponsors. There is no way after this year Checo can continue next year.

Thought I’d do the match on the remaining points. Max leads Checo by 177 points.

6 races x win = 150 points
6 races x fastest lap = 6 points
3 x sprint race wins = 24 points

So I think Max needs 6th in the Qatar sprint race to win the title. Checo needs top 3 to have any chance of making Max wait 24 hours to claim the title.

Yep, best sprint I can remember. Lots of fun and intrigue and overtaking.

I can’t imagine there’s anyone in the grid who would hate his teammate winning a race more than Lando

Mandatory 3 stop race tonight. Will be interesting. Slight advantage to teams who have tyres saved. Ferrari seems to be a lil concerned due to limited tires.
Fun watch upcoming perhaps

Lewis owned it. Wish more drivers would admit fault and take responsibility.

Logan, I do feel gave it his all. I like the kid, just biting off more than he can chew. Over his head currently.

In same camp as Riccardio (last yr) Perez, Stroll being broken. Pressure too much.

Next feeling the heat I believe are Norris and Lewis. Teammate’s too strong. But Lewis has been through this many times except now he may be past his prime.

lewis is clearly a worse driver than 3-4 years ago.

Of course, not having the best car highlights mistakes more, but he's definitely making more mistakes...both qualifying and in races, than he used to.

In my latest instalment of useless stats, Oscar Piastri becomes the 8th driver to earn 26+ points on a weekend:

18 times - Verstappen
9 - Hamilton
3 - Bottas, Leclerc
1 - Ricciardo, Russell, Perez, PIASTRI

Max becomes the 5th driver to win three consecutive titles. The previous four all went on to win a fourth consecutive title (5 - Schumacher, 4 - Fangio, Vettel, Hamilton).

New car set up for Merc this weekend at Austin…something that they are purportedly hoping will be a big part of their 2024 car.

We’ll see how it goes. Idk, it still feels like Red Bull have pace in hand and might not be racing Max at 100% so the other manufacturers have a ton of work to do

The final stretch, 5 races in 6 weeks for the only time this year. Rounds 5 to 9 would have also had 5 races in 6 weeks except that Imola was cancelled

I hope the conclusion to the season is not boring and predictable.
