Ya that’s the part that’s insane to me. It’s ALMOST defensible if you immediately kick when you have a minute left on 4th down and all 3 timeouts. It’s still terrible, but at least you have an out

Let’s see if he learns from his mistakes. At least it was his first game as HC. Fat Mike still makes the same mistakes after 257 games.

I know the decision to kick the FG on the 1 was bad by the numbers. But the way the Chiefs were performing in short yardage all game - I didn't mind it.

suzzermike and grandomike, why are you valuing a sample size of ~4 over a sample size of the last 400+ short yardage plays? Having a good o-line, 2 good RBs, the goaTE, 3 good WRs and good QB who is also mobile should make the decision to go for it super easy.

It's a logic trap to assume only historical conversion averages should be considered, to the exclusion of previous in-game outcomes.

In-game results in similar situations should be weighted at least some. How much? That's the art part.

The Chiefs O-line was getting blown off the ball in short-yardage situations. It was a long yard iirc.
