As 4th down between the 40 yard lines goes, this is a pretty bad one (13 yards, own 40, all timeouts, nearly 2:30 left, not a high scoring opposition). Maybe this is a college v NFL thing or something, I don't watch much college, but this definitely seems like a punt in the NFL. Nobody has talked more about the uselessness of the 4th down calculator ITT than me, but this is probably the sort of situation it does best at, and it reckons you need to convert the 4th down 29% of the time to break even vs punting. I don't think that is happening.
Arkansas had been moving the ball at will for 3 quarters. After the failed 4th down conversion, Arkansas crammed it down their throat and ran out the clock. The way the game was playing out, I think Tennessee's only chance of winning was to go for it.
