With only 2.5s left you're gonna be launching a 3 from pretty deep regardless. If you take it after the second FT you at least have the clock stopped while everybody tries to get open and you try to heave it way downcourt.

If they make, you then have the option to inbound it as far as you can, then insta call the TO and set up a much higher % play.

If they miss, you obviously insta call the TO and then you can set up a play (think Bryce Drew Valpo) that will still be much higher % than rebounding the ball with you back facing the play then trying to scramble and get a 3 which will pretty much always be a runner from at least half court and probably heavily contested.

How did the game play out after that?

auburn down 2 with 9:48 left kicked the XP

scored a TD with 9 sec left to go up 5, kicked the XP

mack had to do something extreme to outmike muschamp, who up 11 punted from the opposing 35 and gave up a touchdown then on the next possession punted on fourth and one from midfield to promptly give up the winning touchdown.

The first one they had an offsides penalty, and a shaky QB. So it was from the 7. I can kinda see not wanting to be down by 2 scores if Oregon scores a TD.

The second one is a complete facepalm.
