Carr's contract is very tradable as early as this offseason. Would cost Raiders 2.5M a year x3 years if they did it this offseason. Trading team would get Carr on a 4 year contract for ~19.5M a year, 0 guaranteed. Could be something to watch over the next 2 years.

I wonder if for their "protection" he signed some sort of non compete clause where he can't work in or around football in general until the ten years are up. I'm not a lawyer, I know he couldn't work for another team but would he be prevented from getting fired and going back to ESPN and keeping his 100 million too?

Edit: the trade is great for the raiders of course, cooper sucks.

lol I did that a few times in a mock draft for the Bills and ended up with 27 picks once

ya the trade seems good in a vacuum, but i mean they were a 12-4 team in 2016 with a 25yo Pro Bowl QB, a 22yo Pro Bowl WR, a 25yo DPOY, etc and now they're a terrible team that has this version of David Carr making $25MM per year and a bunch of draft picks

a lot riding on the assumption that Gruden knows how to draft & coach at this point

I love to laugh at Gruden as much as anything, but yeah he absolutely fleeced the Cowboys here. It’s not 2016 anymore and no one in their right mind would give anything more than a 3rd for Cooper.

I bet he just threw out a 1st rounder hoping to eventually negotiate down to a 2nd best case scenario and drunk Jerry Jones was just like “Yes.”
