Pretty sure far less than 80% of African-American's would be unoffended and/or not bothered by the Tennessee N-word.
Having said that, it's still idiotic (in my opinion) to have a nickname that offends people.
lol self-identified
The Daily Show did a piece on the Redskins at the time and the Native American panel they had pointed out that anyone could have self-identified, and when the Daily Show asked rhetorically who would do that - the white people on another panel said 'oh I'm one eighth Navajo' or some bullshit.
A 2019 study by UC Berkeley (again self-identified) said 49% of Native Americans were offended, and that rose to 67% of those who said they regularly participated in native or tribal culture. Another poll that went to actual pow-wows said "67% of the Native Americans polled agreed with the statement that "Redskins" is racial or racist. The response from non-natives was almost the opposite, with 68% responding that the name is not offensive."
I can go on Wikipedia and pull data too!
But you think the tomahawk chop isn't racist for some reason so not sure why I'm bothering to engage
