High School Football coach never punts...loses State Championship - Page 5 - Sporting Events and Fantasy Sports

They are a private school playing in a public school league. Both teams in the finals were private schools. They have a major talent advantage. Plus this was a midlevel class of football which gives the private schools even more of an advantage. They need to do what Texas did and kick them out of public school leagues. My dog could have coached either team to the finals.

Kevin Kelley took the head coaching job at FCS Presbyterian. I've gotten to know him some since my posts from 10 years ago. The guy is really good on offense, but I don't know how he will fare on defense as he is a send the house every play kind of guy. It works well with his offensive philosophy and onside kick philosophy because he wants the ball back as quickly as possible. Not sure how that all works in college as there are much different rules on onside kicks in college vs high school. I'm curious to see how he adapts to the college level with his no punt philosophy and with his vertical to option route offense.

I checked their roster, they aren't carrying a punter. The guy that was their starting punter the past two seasons transferred to Arkansas Tech.

This sounds awesome, but if you have like 4th and 30 on your own 10, seems like insanity not to punt. I guess it was probably covered ad nauseam in the thread.

its proly a combination of them scoring 84 pts so it doesnt matter, the offense is so good that they almost never face that situation, and the offense is so good that they can actually convert often enough.

Here are the 4th downs from his last game which was a 63-43 loss.

4th and 4 - incomplete pass. Turnover on downs at own 47.
4th and 11 - took a sack. Turnover on downs at own 20.
4th and 5 - took a sack. Turnover on downs at own 24.
4th and 10 - incomplete pass. Turnover on downs at own 25.
4th and 21 - sacked from own 4 yard line. Safety.
4th and 15 - incomplete pass. Turnover on downs at own 40.
4th and Goal - failed rushing attempt from 1 yd line. Turnover on downs at opponent's 1.
