First thing that came to mind.

But let's get real. Any of the World Cups probably was a bigger event.

are you talking about the 2010 WC final?

for WC standards that one was a pretty unmemorable imo. like 2002- koreans rigged it 2006- Zidane headbutt 2014 -Germany 7-1 over Brazil 2010 - nothing like that really stands out that i can remember.

Yeah, while it was obviously amazing to actually win one, you've got to assume he means the ALCS

Wasn't in the world championship (Taylor, oddly enough, has never thrown one in the worlds) but still quite the moment

This sort of thing is hugely dependent on whether you're talking about an event or a moment, it's a definition thing. The Tebow OT touchdown was a great moment (hugely enhanced by the 2+2 reaction), but the previous 60 minutes of play wasn't really remarkable at all, it's effectively just one play, whereas something like the 2004 ALCS has a lot more around it than something like the Ortiz walk off homer

Hard to say for me. Would probably go with 2005 CL final, or if we're talking American sports, game seven of the 2001 WS

I was in Spain, it was quite memorable. An entire nation going apeshit crazy for two days has to be lived to be understood.

You obviously weren't in France in 1998 then.

Do you mean Rousey-Holm? The mystique was already fading for the Nunez fight.

2007 Fiesta Bowl. No real important consequences but it was just so much fun to watch. I can still vividly remember where I was and my reactions to the various crazy plays at the end. Maybe exactly because I had no rooting interest and the game was really not important to anything, it’s always what I think of when I think about what I really like about sports.

My homer non-championship division pick:

1995 ALDS Game 5 Mariners v Yankees
https://www.mlb.com/news/mariners-19...reaming-on-mlb

The brief moment in M's history where things didn't suck. Coming back from 11.5 games down in late august to being up 2 games with 2 to play, then losing out and having to use Randy Johnson in a tiebreaker when he was the Cy Young winner and the rest of their pitchers were garbage.

In the first playoff appearance in franchise history, they start 0-2, then Randy pulls one out on 3 days rest and they win game four 11-8 on a late Edgar grand slam.

Game 5, down 2-4 in the bottom of the 8th, Griffey hits his fifth homer of the series and a bases-loaded walk ties it (scored by 19 year old Arod), but rookie Mariano Rivera comes in and closes the inning with a strikeout.

The Yankees get men on first and second with nobody out in the 9th until the BIG ****ING UNIT comes out of the pen after one day off and shuts them down with 6 strikeouts in 3 innings. He gives up a run in the 11th, but the heart of the M's lineup is due up.

Plus, if they lose that game, the M's probably move out of Seattle and win 5 World Series under different management.

2010 Auburn v Alabama from down 24-0 to 28-27 victory

The last three "real" games of the 2013 Auburn season were all surreal:

2013 Auburn v Georgia, Miracle at Jordan-Hare
2013 Auburn v Alabama, Kick Six
2013 Auburn v Florida State (the second or third best BCSCG depending on how you feel about OSU-Miami)

You've probably already seen it, but might interest others in the thread and is really well done. 6-part series on the history of the Mariners:

I'm sure I'm dating myself here:

1976 Chris Chambliss HR
1977 Reggie Jackson 3HR
1986 Entire MLB Postseason, both leagues, but as a Mets fan (switched in 1982), obviously Game 6 of WS
1986 Jets vs Dolphins shootout- 51-45...one of the few Jets highlights from the past 4 decades...
1996 Masters...watching Norman implode still haunts me, and Faldo playing a perfect round like a cyborg
2014 WC - Mom's German, grew up a BM fan...between the 7-1 game and overtime win, a fantastic tourney.
2012 MC-QPR...just started getting into soccer in late 90s...still can't believe it.
2019 LFV-BAC second leg...chose LFC as my team in 2012 for no real reason...nice to win after 6 years of frustration
