The GOAT Draft The GOAT Draft

02-10-2018 , 11:40 PM
Feel free to delete this if it is indeed still going on.

I'm jumping in with the one true GOAT:

Imagine a situation where nearly everyone has their mind made up about the GOAT. Now imagine almost anyone changing their mind on a well known subject in a debate on the internet, it just doesn't happen. It is unthinkable, unimaginable, and unbelievable.

Now imagine having one poster in a thread being the only person arguing a point initially and changing the mind of EVERY single poster ( > at least 40 posters and probably somewhere closer to 100) that ventures into the thread so that they are pretty much the only people in the world (bar a handful)that believe something that is still debated often today with almost every tv and radio personality taking the incorrect position against the GOAT. More-so, the people that ventured into said thread vary in intelligence from somewhat below average to super genius.

Ladies and gentleman of SE I present to you:
Spoiler:
The GOAT Thread with the GOAT poster about the GOAT athlete
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/4...9/index43.html
The pick is Redbean and that thread, the athlete is still available and a way better pick than some cricket dude as he was more dominant in baseball than that dude was in cricket and in a more modern era, and in a more competitive and better sport.

No he wasn't. Some dude researched it and Bradman was 4.4 standard deviations above the mean for the sport. Bonds would have had to hit at .392 to be at Bradman's level apparently. And if Bradman was juicing it would have been less close

Bonds wasn't juicing, read the thread before you come at me with that baseless speculation. Also, .392 is a stupid measurement for baseball. Look at the OPS.

Exhibit 1 on greatness of Redbean: poster above me never read the thread.

Ok sweet, he's fourth all time in OPS, if we're taking modern era only he's 1.051 and Ramirez is 0.996. Bradman's lifetime average was 99.94 runs, next closest is 61.87

A gem from the GOAT thread:

I cannot believe that the extent of my keeping up with the entire Bonds saga all these years has been listening to an extremely biased and - for lack of better wording - full of **** media outlet. The misrepresentation of facts and personal agendas presented as truths that these outlets have provided is deplorable.

think BOLT would have been a good pick

In a troll draft USA could go #1 for being pretty good from 1946-2016. They aren't #1 now, and Rome, Britain, Mongolia all had better empires for longer.

USA #158 would have been a worse pick than Durant

Muhammad is pretty clearly the GOAT leader of people - he's basically Genghis Khan, Jesus and St. Paul rolled into one person. Jesus was a nobody during his life, Genghis Khan has no lasting influence on today's world and St. Paul (the actual founder of Christianity) had to use someone else as a figurehead to prop up his religious movement and didn't take it all that far himself.

USA was on the board bc the rules limited the draft choices to people...

Muhammad solid #1 choice. Also think you could argue for Shakespeare and Da Vinci.

Sports wise I would go Collina or Serena Williams
The GOAT Draft Quote
02-12-2018 , 03:38 AM
Yeah Shakespeare and Da Vinci are solid nontroll picks as well. I have no idea who the second best playwright is, Tennessee Williams?, Shakespeare is clear and not even close GOAT in that category. When it comes to sports, I would have thrown in Jerry Rice and Wayne Gretzky.

Also Calvin and Hobbes GOAT comic strip and not close.

Dutch East India Company is the GOAT corporation and would have been a monolithic pick.
