With my first pick I'm going for someone who's made a lasting contribution to history. After being exiled from his own tribe at the age of 9 he spent his youth hunting and fighting, and in his twenties he started conquering neighboring tribes and did not stop untill he ruled over the largest contiguous Empire in history. He also found time to lay some pipe on the side and studies have found his DNA in over 16 million people alive today.
An early believer in the dangers of global warming and overpopulation, my pick is estimated to have killed approximately 40 million people (roughly 10% of the world population at the time) in order to help the environment.
This is no small feat and he managed this by being a GOAT warlord and leader of men, notably most of his most trusted generals were former enemies who he turned to his side.
I am of course talking about Temüjin, the Khan of Khans, most commonly known as Genghis Khan.
No one really knows what he looked like, but here's a 130 feet tall statue of him in modern day Mongolia.
Genghis was undoubtedly one of the GOAT military leaders, regularly defeating forces that outnumbered him 4-5 to 1, but where his VORP really shines is that he didn't just conquer most of the world he was actually a good statesman.
He was tolerent of all religions and his subjects had religious freedom, he abolished torture in his Empire. A capitalist at heart he set up great trade routes, and lets just say you didn't want to give him unfavourable deals, just ask the Shah of the Khwarezmid Empire. After breaking a trade agreement Genghis invaded and destroyed his entire Empire.
He established one of the first interational postal systems by setting up a vast series of post houses and way stations. Official riders could travel as far as 200 miles a day by utilizing these, thus making sure that no one could take them by surprise.
And of course being as clairvoyant as he was, he shows us how a great border wall is really not that effective at all.
