Vasco, Down 2-0, concedes a soft/questionable penalty on last minute of injury time. Fortunately stopped it to stay down only 2-0.

Oh snap. Was the second penalty he stopped. Stopped one before I got to the bar

I’d say this was a clinic, and I’d be right, but man this is much more about a truly amateur defensive performance by VASCO than Racing’s amazing offense.
Anyways, 3-0.

And to make matters worse a truly awful penalty on a straight flop off the ball awarded. Truly absurd. Two yellow given. One for the “foul” one for “arguing.” 4-0.

Off to watch Val’s team and Cruziero. My ex gf is Cruziero. So rooting for Val is easy.

Cruziero looks better but not by a whole lot. They’re definitely more aggressive so far despite even possession. Should be a good second half. 0-0

Man, Val, I really want to like your team but #10 is like a super duper as crappy as possible Messi and #13 is quite good but so chippy and floppy.
A draw that was good for UdC but Cruiziero had the better of the play. Draw a fairish result still.

We need a result in the away leg because we are going to struggle to get a result in Avellaneda.
I think a draw against Cruzeiro should be enough to qualify.

17yo VASCO stud Paulinho sold to Europe
Flamengo gets hosed out of a goal at the end of the match
Boca with a bad home 2-0 loss to Palmeiras
Tomorrow our feature group has VASCO and Cruziero at home fighting for their lives, each needing three points VS Racing and UdC

And the inevitable Racing goal on a counter. Vasco keeper so good tho. Love him. Stopped the first shot

Disturbance near end of 1H in Racing supporter section. No clue what it is but Racing players, attacking at the opposite end (near me), just STOP ATTACKING and go to that end of the field. Cups start flying on other side of the dividing wall. Now more police head that way and a slow but steady stream from the Vasco section all the way to the Racing section. It’s all open seating cement bleachers and everyone stands the whole game. More cups flying. More people heading past me towards there. My section is calm but easily could go bad fast. Vasco Down 1-0 vs a clearly better team and needs an outright win to stay alive. I hit the exits and got a great fare from a cabbie who was thrilled to not wait an hour for the game to end. #coisasdefutebol
2H still 1-0

Ok. Just caught up on what happened. Argentina gonna Argentina. Turns out the Racing fans decided to bring in a bunch of bananas and toss them at the Vasco fans and also on the field while making monkey sounds.
