This Palestino stadium looks awesome. Love a proper rectangle stadium in the middle of the mountains, visible from the pitch. Reminds me of Monaco's stadium. Pulling for your boys Valenzuela and backed them +169, pk -115 and u2 -105

That is the stadium of Universidad Catolica. The stadium of Palestino is not fit for international competion.

Palestino to the group stage !!! Hope Jimenez injury isn’t serious.

River Plate, Internacional and Alianza Lima is a really tough group though.

That’s probably a step too far but they could easily qualify for Sudamericana and keep the run going.

Yea Alianza are my Peruvian team but they stink. Sudamerica up for grabs though I'm surprised how little these small teams seem to care about it based on attendance. Even Libertadores games dont seem to sell out these small teams small stadiums.

Palestino though I'm rooting for Alianza to get that 3rd spot

Lol the small teams don’t have more fans.
Palestino is the team of a small Arab colony in Chile. On a normal league game they bring about 1000 fans.

This isn’t Europe where every top tier team has tens of thousands fans every game.

Oh no I know. And I actually thought the Palestino turnout was really good today. Just from other games I've seen even when the "bigger" (ie Brazilian) clubs are in town. And the Sudamerica just seems like its empty stadium after empty stadium.

Libertadores is so awesome! Most profitable to bet and opening rounds of group stage has been awesome. Mi querido Alianza currently holding the champions River and Gallese just saved a pk. Need to get the highlights of the concepcion sporting cristal 5-4 thriller too

Competition is so good. Hope we can get some consistent discussion itt this season

My Libertadores experience:

Saw Deportivo Lara was getting a pretty good price at home and I was ready to gamble after a decent poker session. 20 minutes after the match is supposed to start livescore says it still hasn't started so I check a stream and apparently there was no electricity in the stadium so it's postponed until tomorrow.

<3 Libertadores

One of the survivors, journalist Rafael Henzel, has passed away from a heart attack he suffered while playing football. Just shortly after he got back from the German premiere of "Nossa Chape" in Berlin - just terribly sad. RIP

Atlético San Luis, majority owned by Atlético Madrid, was just promoted from México's 2nd division to Liga MX. It's rumored that Fernando Torres might finish his career with San Luis.

Forget if we were just limping all South America talk in the MLS thread with Liga MX but figured this thread deserved to be topped because...

LIBERTADORES is BACK TONIGHT!

Some good games to kickoff the knockout rounds starting with River v. Cruzeiro on right now.

I'm on River, Quito, Palmeiras (all weirdly -131) and Gremio -1 +100 fwiw

Libertadores starting back up perfectly. 90+6 VAR penalty given in the 99th minute lol!

aaaaaaaaaand the River idiot skied it and completely missed the goal. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Wow, Colombia and Perú were completely shut out of the knockout phase? Guess I have no rooting interest and will just hope for interesting matchups.

River-Boca and Gremio-Internacional semifinals will do.

Palmeiras completely dominated that game but seemed happy to leave 2-2 once they equalized. Godoy never threatened again. Luckily I bet the draw at ht to recoup that one.

Away goals are a thing in the Libertadores right?

I dont know why but I really enjoy this competition and glad it's back. Also bummed no Peru teams made it through but then they're all pretty **** anyway so Ole Porcos!

Was also kind of sad to see how empty the Godoy stadium was Palmeiras are as big as it gets by South American club team standards and Godoy getting to the knockouts isnt something that happens every year and the stadium seemed 25% full. I know it's cold as **** their now but I'm sure its club overpricing tickets which is so stupid

Any recent news on the uk press about West Ham acquiring Gabigol from Inter next january?

Some br journalist was saying they were offering 30Mil, also read on a blog that one unnamed Bundesliga team is also positioning itself to buy it on the winter transfer window.

Price is going up and Flamengo wanted to pay 18-20mil for him, it seems they lost the train unless they include in the trade a young player to Inter or Gabriel only wants to play in Brazil from now on...

Big comeback for VASCO tonight.

Flamengo and Grêmio was an elite leg 1. Flamengo prob deserved to win but man this had it all

River schooled Boca. Hard to see how Boca can flip the script in leg 2
