Mark Cuban is predicting that some foreigners will come and gobble up any number of US sports franchises pretty soon.

With the lack of Salary Cap of MLB, why couldn't or wouldn't an ultra Wealthy (as in guys or girls who make me look poor) Sports Fan take advantage of the fall in the value of the dollar and come in and buy an Iconic or even mid market franchise and spend spend spend ?

I actually think it's going to be pretty interesting. Imagine a Chinese conglomerate buying the Houston Rockets, or a Japanese billionaire buying the Seattle Mariners. hell, the most interesting of all would be Hugo Chavez buying the marlins!

what do you guys think? will it be a good thing or a bad thing? which billionaires/countries would you like owning which franchises?

i know you are referring to the Nintendo dude who owned 49% of them, but he was just meh.

he makes no management decisions, never makes the headlines, pretty much decrepit at 80yo. i think the Nintendo ownership is represented by an american now.

I changed my mind. I think the most interesting owner change would be the Cherokee Nation buying the Atlanta Braves if they had enough money and subsequently playing the Florida Marlins owned by the Chavez/Castro group.

Anyone remember the Mad TV sketch where a native american group bought the Redskins, Chiefs, Indians, and Braves, and changed their names?

The only one I remember is that the Washington Redskins bacame the Washington Rednecks.
