Maybe, but he is so... Anyway, it's not like Götze has been tearing it up since he left Dortmund. I doubt any of the big PL/La Liga sides are that interested in him. Plop and potentially Dortmund might be his only real options at this point.

Wasn't really a comment on his ability but rather his form or lack thereof, and I don't disagree that at his best he'd likely start for most or even all PL sides. I still think it's fair to say that he hasn't exactly lit it up at Bayern and that would likely impact the market for him this summer.

Personally think 20mil would be a steal for a player of his ability/age. I'd be very surprised/delighted if we are among the front runners if he's sold.

He's always looked good when I've seen him play for Bayern I know he's had injury problems.

This story, quoting similar fees, has been doing the rounds for 3-4 months now. We've had scouts at pretty much every Benfica/Portugal game this season. Think this might be a case of too much smoke for there not to be fire. Although, counterpoint: The Gaitan stories have been doing the rounds for 5 years now, and we've had scouts at Benfica games on the regular in that time as well.

I've seen 1 full game recently + watched a few of those "every touch" youtubes and besides his physique/athleticism he doesn't look too impressive to me. Kind of Ramires-like is my first (poorly informed) impression of him.

Oh boy, I'm loving this, €60m for Sanches + 20 something for Gaitan, ship Jonas to China and Benfica locks the league for 3 more years with this kind of money

Mendes/Benfica have been trying to hype up a Gaitan transfer for 5 years now, what makes you think it happens this summer? I'm actually starting to doubt he really exists, we've signed him 10 times according to portuguese media and I've never seen him play for us.

I don't mean specifically that he goes to United, but I do believe he will leave this summer.
It's his last chance, I think Benfica will let him go for something as low as 20m and I bet he will do more than Memphis did this season in just half the time if he ends up with you.

I think what made EPL team doubt him is that he is a bit slow and could be a flop for 25m+. IMO, he would be best suited for the likes of Juve/Atletico.

Don't get me wrong, I will be more than happy if he stays

Jesse Lingard has done more than Memphis this season, so that's a pretty low bar to clear. If you finally manage to sell him, I'm guessing it's more likely to be to Russia or China than it is to Juve/Atletico type clubs.
