There's obviously a bit of reslts oriented thinking in play but 2m seems like it is indeed a lol-lowball offer.
5-6m is probably acceptable for a QB2 with good potential and trade value alas dunno how hard it was to judge the injury. Did the franchise tag exist back then, who was it on, how much would it have been to use it on Brees for a year back then?

The drs could also be horrible/lolbad or super risk averse because they want to stay team doctors and being wrong and him turning out great eventually keeps you in office longer than being wrong and clearing him and him not being able to go.
There's probably quite some extra money to be made by being an NFL-doc (from customers who want to be "treated like the pros" etc.)

You guys are ridiculously results oriented. The previous years before this year, Rivers was easily considered on par with Brees. This year, things have taken a turn for the worse but its still the right decision WITH hindsight knowing that Brees would be okay.

True. But he's not dumb, so that's not it. iirc (and I could be wrong), for many tyears the Giants gave IQ tests to everyone they were considering drafting, to supplement the combine stuff; Simms was rumored to have gotten the highest score they ever saw.

At this point I'm gonna assume the entire Spanos family just doesn't bother watching the games, because anyone with a pulse would have fired him last week (which would have been 2 years overdue), and this week was even worse.

Settling for a 54 yarder, then letting the clock run down to 1 second on the play clock to call timeout on the other team's game winning field goal, WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT TO GET CALLED FOR DELAY OF GAME, is just unspeakably terrible.
