Chance of revenge against France and Denmark as well.
That substitution was a big mistake from the coach after 2 penalties

Eventually turned out to be a great call after 5 penos

Was rooting for Peru as soon as I saw Aus made a sub for the shootout and he seemingly had one plan, i.e. be a twat and hope he puts Peru off

Isn't Peru the legit worst for parking the bus and going for the shootout? Lol 2 shots on target vs 1

There will be specific beer zones. Like smoking zones in the EU only for beer.

I can definitely see this being a huge success amongst fans.

Soccer is an exciting enough game that you don't need alcohol to enjoy it.

These words can only come from someone who doesn't support a mediocre club, or go to games full stop

Denmark and France play tomorrow in UEFA Nations League. That'll be a nice warmup for when they play in Qatar. they play each other every WC, it seems.

Australia is also in that group again.

I look forward to getting 25% possession again.

Gonna get absolutely battered in the games but proud to be the first side actually going there to speak out against Qatar, even if some of the language is a little soft

With Germany's squad announced I need a place to vent some thoughts. I’m sorry in advance because this will be kinda long and rambly.

First off and most importantly it's ridiculous that we only have 3 CMs in the squad when we're looking to play 2 of them. If 2 of them get injured/suspended we have to play someone out of position. I imagine it would be Musiala or maybe Brandt or Ginter for more defense. Whoever it is he'll be playing out of position which is fine in a pinch but this a 26 man squad and we're bringing 11 players for 4 attacking positions, there's no way we need that many. It's just poor squad building. I don't even care who we'd end up with, take your pick of who you think is best between Arnold, Weigl, Stach, Khedira, Janelt, Can, Andrich or whoever else I forgot. Just get rid of one of the attackers and bring someone decent who actually plays as a DM/CM. I’d get rid of Adeyemi fwiw, he’s been very poor this season.

Second, imo Hummels absolutely should have been in the squad. I’m of the opinion that it usually doesn’t matter much who the players in position 20+ are because they won’t play a role on the pitch anyway but Hummels should have been in contention for a starting spot. I won’t pretend that I’ve watched Bella-Kotchap or really followed Ginter but Hummels has absolutely been better than Süle and Schlotterbeck this season. He’s in great form. This one feels similar to Sane in 2018 who arguably should have been a starter but wasn’t nominated at all.

Lineup that I’d go with:

----------------- Neuer -----------------
Süle - Rüdiger - Schlotterbeck - Günter
---------- Kimmich - Goretzka ---------
------ Gnabry - Musiala - Sane ---------
----------------- Füllkrug ----------------

Lineup I expect to see:

------------- Neuer -------------
Kehrer - Süle - Rüdiger - Raum
------ Kimmich - Goretzka -----
--- Gnabry - Müller - Musiala --
------------- Havertz ------------

Neuer, Rüdiger and Kimmich are the ones I’d say are absolutely guaranteed to start.
Raum has been the starting LB for a while now while Günter has barely been nominated so he seems very likely. I don’t think he’s been doing all that well for Leipzig though while Günter pretty much has been consistently good for years now.
Süle, Schlotterbeck and Ginter I think are all in contention for the 2nd CB spot. I’d say Schlotterbeck is the best talent wise but he’s still relatively young and has been a little too error prone, especially in his games for the national team. My feeling is that Süle has the best shot but it might come down to how well they’re doing in practice.
Süle has been doing well as a makeshift RB for Dortmund, Flick has been leaning on Kehrer a lot so I expect to see him start there. Klostermann might take the spot if he’s fit enough as he’s the most natural RB in the squad but he’s been injured since the first match week and only returned to Leipzig’s match squad last game (he didn’t play). Hofmann would be a more offensive option and Flick has tried him in that position but I think we’ll stick to a bit of an asymmetrical system where the RB plays more conservative while the LB has more room to bomb forward.
2nd CM spot is between Goretzka and Gündogan, I’d give Goretzka the slight advantage here but it could go either way.
In offense I’d say Musiala, Müller, Gnabry, Sane, Havertz and Hofmann are the most realistic options. Unfortunately I don’t think Füllkrug will start since he’s been nominated for the first time but I’d like to see us line up with an actual striker. I’d be very surprised if any of Götze, Brandt, Adeyemi and Moukoko are more than bench options. Musiala should absolutely start and people might riot if he doesn’t but I have a feeling that Flick might be hesitant. Müller has been out for a bit now and hasn’t been at his best this season but I feel like Flick sees him as too important as an on pitch leader so he probably starts if he’s fit enough. Gnabry has been in great form lately. Sane has been great in the Champions League, a bit up and down in the league? Hofmann has been playing a surprising amount under Flick and is probably best suited to play a pseudo RWB if that’s what we’re going with. Havertz is Havertz.
