hard not to be partial but think firmino > jesus is a better fit for brazil. dinho in the holding role seems optimal for them too

It seems none of the favorites is looking too good, but maybe they're all sandbagging a bit.

Neymar -- Firmino -- coutinho is fire.

I really think Brazil are shipping this thing

Yeah Firmino over Jesus is not contraversial at this point. I'm sure Jesus will be a beast at some point.

Brazil looked good today, especially in the 2nd half but our biggest strength is that it’s very hard to score on us, so we might not “look” great at times but will usually still be in control.

Our defensive record under Tite is phenomenal and we’ve played 5 UEFA teams in a row now and conceded 0 goals.

Jesus speed is very useful for this team too and Firmino brings something different. I think both players will get a lot of playing time but I’d also start Firmino.

what role did coutinho play today? midfield 3? as a #8, #10 or somewhere in between?

i didn't watch today but i think miranda is the most underrated central defender the last decade. i would honestly have taken him over godin when they were both at atleti

Neymar - Coutinho - Paulinho - Willian

Miranda and Silva look very solid

Morocco is exactly the kind of team that troubles Portugal but I saw the odds and the market seems to recognize Morocco has a shot.
Also I have seen a lot of talk about how they are good and all , even in 538.
The moment to get on their wagon was after they comfortably defeated Ivory Coast away and qualified without conceding.

I still feel pretty good about my Argentina recommendation, the Israel saga obviously had a negative effect on the team and now there are same fake whatsapp rumors that Sampaoli raped an argentine cook and it got spread enough that the police had to get involved and clarify that they have not received any kind of complaint involving Sampaoli raping somebody.

The Peru odds have slightly shifted from 2.75 to 2.62 but that still seems EV. ( I do want to note that every time I make recommendations in here odds always get worse and never better ).

The Peru bet is only possible because the amount of smart money that comes from South America is too small.

The Argentina bet logic is that Argentina is a team that we don’t know how good they are.
I think the market correctly recognizes that Argentina could turn out to be really good and Sampaoli may figure out how to get the best out of Messi. They are correct as 5th favorite.
But I think it’s incorrect to assume that they are such a strong favorite to get out of the group. Just as they could turn out to be a side with legit aspirations to compete for the title they could also turn out to be completely ordinary.

Colombia bet is a mix of eye test of Colombia being ordinary ( and the table shows they barely made it as well) , Poland being generally good and having semi home advantage that markets fail to weight in and Senegal having a good roster. Yesterday an article appeared that they have the 11th most expensive squad. Ok that doesn’t mean bet your house on them but it should be information that is relevant. They have good players.

What is the evidence behind semi home advantage and where is the evidence that the market is not weighing it if true?

Also the markets is also incapable of knowing that Senegal has good players or what?

I keep looking at croatias squad and really like most parts of their team

Lovren, Vrsalijko
Rakitic Modric Kovacic
Perisic Mandzukic
Kramaric

To name a few. If they find a system where they all fit in they have a strong starting team
