well, it needs to be pointed out that while 7-1 is bad*, doing it at home acts as an exponential for the badness

*extremely bad

I'd rather lose honourably 7-1 at home than cheat my way to victory.

dunno why you'd be upset about 3 time world cup winners west germany losing that final when you are a fan of the one time world cup winning country of germany

I am sure you have fond memories of that WC you won because since then you’ve never done better than Brazil did in 2014.

And we already avenged that loss by beating them in their specialty(pks) in the olympic games final. Same thing. We moved on...

By the way, in all seriousness when we made it to the ~quarterfinals I remember thinking something like: “at least we already avoided embarrassment” and I thought that would be a privilege of England, Italy and Spain.

LÖL, we've had this discussion at length during the 2012 Euros, I distinctly remember Raz and Kevin being up in arms about "Germany" having won only one WC*. Of course all of you are wrong. As usual.

First of all, the Federal Republic of Germany never seized existing. The German Democratic Republic did. We annexed the commie ****s.

Second of all, and as a direct consequence to the first point, The DFB (Deutscher Fußball Bund), which is Germany's FA, never seized existing either, and it's this entitiy that is a member FA of UEFA and FIFA. And it's this entity that has won four World Cups and three Euros.

*
Spoiler:
(edit: they were up in arms about us having never won a WC, of course, as in 2012 the last one we had won was 1990, four months before the annexation)

Turns out I was wrong on when we had the discussion, too. It was during the 2014 WC, in the Group thread that England didn't make it out of.

Starts with this pöst by kingweed.

Just out of curiosity. If you were to give the Falklands back to their rightful owners (yeah, right), would both you and Argentina reset the counter, or just one of you? If so, which one?

I find it interesting, in terms of analyzing the German psyche, that the word "ceased" is persistently substituted by the word "seized" in this post. Not, at all, that you are all dominion hungry Nazi's at heart.

We see you.

I find it interesting that in your pöst the plural "Nazis" gets an apostrophe.

We didn't even have a man on the moon when that happened. You're also supposed to beat a nation of 300,000 in a game you invented but hey, here we are

losing to volcanoland was deeply embarrassing of course, but - and im not trolling here - i would rather do that 10 times in a row that than lose 7-1 to germany at wembley. cross my heart and hope to die, i really mean it. on me mum's life

I think that’s fair enough. How about this?

Being embarrassed in WC’s for 84 years but winning* your home WC

Vs

Being embarassed in your home WC but winning more WC’s than any other nation

ill take whichever one doesn't involve getting beaten 7-1 in our national stadium by the world's baddies

as i alluded to before, i think it's a terminal event. if that happened to us then every england fan would have no choice but to travel to deep space

It was by two countries double teaming us. How is that fair. They should’ve had to choose between Trinidad or Tobago.

Tis a great shame of blowing our streak of superior Cup finishes compared to England tho. Pity that. Tho maybe England aren’t the right ones to be busting on a team like Brazil that has outperformed them for a generation’s worth of World Cups.
