I think this is basically the most pressure that any team in any sport has had in recent time. Then, you add that they lost their captain, leader and leg...I mean, second best player for this game, as well as their best player and really only one who is often capable of winning a game like this by himself.
They cracked. They wilted. If this game was played in a neutral venue, they don't lose 7-1.
These German players have played together and lost CL finals they shouldn't have. Lost WC semis when they didn't play to potential. They now have the experience to not leave anything out there, not step on their opponents throat.
