Fed is the motha ****in goat no question about it. To get back to #1 is impressive, I honestly didn't think it would happen. But now that it happened, I'm glad because less glory for Samprass is always a good thing.

You people need to understand that its a rare thing to observe the GOAT at something during your lifetimes. Many of you are too young to have seen Jordan or Gretzky live.

Enjoy the GOAT while he's still putting on a show.

There have been a lot of GOATs in my lifetime. Jordan, Gretzky, Tiger, football GOAT whether it be Montana, Rice, or Manning, Federer, Bonds, and Butterbean.

Yeah the thing about it being rare to witness a GOAT in your lifetime is false, especially in sports. Humans improve at almost everything that they do over time, so for any particular endeavor, it is likely that the GOAT is presently alive.

Jordan and gretzky are the GOAT, right?

My point is that you may or may not be lucky enough to see the GOAT in your lifetime. Sure, a new GOAT will come, but who knows when.

The thing about all of this is that the level of tennis (men's) is at an insanely high level that it is so good to watch. These 3 are just on a whole nother level though

Nowadays it's not really rare to witness the GOAT. It's probably more rare to realize and acknowledge it as it's happening. People still arguing over Fed, a lot of people downplay LBJ's talent (compared to MJ et al.), Manning doesn't have enough rangz to be the GOAT, Barry Bonds can't touch the Babe, etc. (Not saying LBJ is def GOAT but that he's in the discussion so young means there's a chance he'll get there.) It's not just for the GOAT--contemporary achievements get minimized when compared to 15-20+ years ago. I get the impression memories and nostalgia keep people from acknowledging current greatness.

I don't even care much about the arguments for who's the GOAT. I see greatness and I enjoy the ride. I grew up in Chicago and MJ is my fav of all time, but I don't want to get entrenched on the MJ side because I don't want to take any GOAT player debate personally, clouding what I see when LBJ plays and hoping he'll never be as good as MJ. I want to appreciate the spectacle.

i wanna buy day1, day2, day3, or day4 tickets (early rounds so i can walk around, see a bunch of folks play) but i guess now it's just a crapshoot right?

like the schedule isn't posted...but is there any way to find out who will play on what day? i'm not sure if i have the energy to be out in the sun all day for 2 straight days lol. i'm always tired (yea i know irony, i'm drinking and watching while they're playing etc.) after a long day of beer + son

I was surprised at how reasonable some of the tickets were for the US Open

oh, and he won the ATP tour championships in 2011...without dropping a match. the only person who didn't lose a match the whole time.

some of the best value in sports. $65 (+~30 in food/alcohol) for all day seeing maybe 3-4 matches depending on when you arrive/how much you love tennis.

the only problem is that the known good days get sold out early even though nobody knows who's playing.

my choice now is to wait to see a schedule and hope they're still available for the early days or buy now and not having a choice on who i see play. and i'm not talking about seeing fed, djok, nadal. i wanna see harrison, haase, tipsarevic, wawrinka, querrey and a few other possibilities (this list is in order btw). STILL PISSED that last open haase didn't close out the murray match in set #4. he ****ing HAD IT.
