So much fun reading back through the entire thread! So many good posts from TEAM VAK about how Federer was washed up years ago.

At this point, the arguments for Roger Federer being the GOAT and Clark's arguments for why Paris is great are almost the same.

Like some things in this wonderful world of ours just are the way they are. Roger being the GOAT really needs no further argument or justification. It's just the way it is.

If Rafa doesnt win the French this year, this thread can be closed for at least 15 years.

If Rafa does win the French, he gives his supporters at least a scrap of hope to cling to. Thats about it.

i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE going back now and reading all the tweets and articles and punditry from people discounting fed back in 2011-2016.

And I love seeing those who had complete faith in fed early on and even THEY underestimated how much of the goat he is. borg is a good example. he said in like 2005 that fed will win more than sampras. he said "fed might even end up with 16, 17, or maybe even 19 slams if he's extremely lucky with his health and competition doesn't come up" lol. so not only did competition come up AND fed had to take 6mo off and miss 2 majors, competition absolutely came up and he still has 20 and looking for possibly (unbelievably) more at wimby.

so many people, including johnny mac, whom i love as a tennis pundit and announcer, said back in 2013 that fed probably won't win another major. now johnny mac is chomping on those words. soooooooo many people counted fed out.

It is pretty amazing that there was a period of time where 3 of the 4 best tennis players ever were near their prime age and all facing each other in Grand Slams.

Federer worshippers can't handle that he has a career losing record to Nadal, including on hard courts. 1/3 of his wins against Nadal on indoor courts. He may be the GOAT, but he's never been able to beat #2 head to head except on grass.
