Who do you think is coordinating the payments from boosters to recruits?

This is a valid point but, hell I could just go to rivals.com and see who Bama is targeting and then DM the kid on twitter or something if I wanted to "help the program."

so don't follow college sports too much, but what I gather, it's okay for a school to be a say Adidas school - where Adidas supplies all the players with shoes and uniforms in exchange for some advertising/endorsements. But it's only good for Adidas if said school is highly successful, so Adidas, sometimes with the coaches help, funnels money to elite recruits and their families, which taints the whole scholarship process which brings in the Feds. Is that right?

Why can't the kids that "need their money" just go straight to D league? In baseball or hockey kids that want immediate money go to the minors, kids that want an education go play on scholarships.

Two Louisville sports guys are saying big news in the morning. I'd guess Pitino is gone and maybe the AD Jurich, too.

Because there's no money there. Players make $26k max.

a program like Kentucky can definitely come up with $5mm for a star player...

likelihood that he will commit to different schools over time as measured by insiders at those programs and general college basketball recruiting sites.

Coming up with and being able to get the 5 mil to the kid without anyone noticing is a big difference.

none of these kids who might be worth 5 mil to these programs are capable of hiding that kind of money.

Lol that getting around dumb NCAA rules is getting FBI resources. What a waste of tax money. Would way rather my tax dollars pay for some studs to play on the basketball team

A handful of programs aren't capable so far. Plenty of programs are still hiding it. This is the tip of a very big iceberg

What CDL said - it just illustrates how out of left field his commitment to Louisville was at the time. Like I said above, the people who get paid to follow and predict this stuff had it firmly down to Creighton, Arizona, and Michigan State. Its extremely rare for a college basketball prospect(especially a 5 star top guy whose recruitment gets this much fanfare) to just announce out of the blue hes attending a school that is outside his "Top 5" or "Top 3" schools.

Not that this is shocking but the rumors are that Pitino is gone in the morning. All the guys reporting on this keep hinting at big news coming out of Louisville in the morning. Cant imagine its anything but Pitino being gone.

Marvin Bagley -- USC>Arizona>dook

I'd be VERY concerned if I were a dookie right now. Would hate to see K go out this way. His legacy would be in tatters. Let's see what develops.

edit: And in case it isn't obvious, the conduit is assistant coach Jeff Capel (who was busted at Oklahoma when he was their head coach).

I find it so hard to believe the NCAA wasn't aware of ANY of this until today when they were notified by the FBI apparently. If so, the NCAA sucks worse than I ever thought possible
