Wow. Not like it wasn't expected but seeing the names and the paper trails in print really is something

From my count there have only been 24 schools listed. I'd be shocked if the final number is less than 75 schools paying players.

So far we have the records of one shoe company and one agent. I'd expect getting this kind of info from nike alone will find us another 30-40 schools. Look at the paper trails of a few more agents and there is no reason we can't go north of 75 schools.

This is beautiful. I'm not sure what will be richer, the outrage from the NCAA that someone besides them is making $ or the tears of lolcollege fans who have spent their lives arguing college>pro because pro athletes only care about $. Of course given how stupid our world is, nothing will actually change and somehow the NCAA will be seen as the victim here.

"These allegations, if true, point to systematic failures that must be fixed and fixed now if we want college sports in America," NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a statement Friday. "Simply put, people who engage in this kind of behavior have no place in college sports. They are an affront to all those who play by the rules."

$361,552 total in loans, advances, & expenses paid to 25 players.

The NCAA made $995,900,000 in revenue in 2016.

Advanced loans? That's illegal too? It's not even free money, it's business lending money to people (probably at high interest rates) based on potential future income.

Can somebody please rip Mark Emmert's head off and tomahawk slam it into a wood chipper?

The problem the NCAA will likely have with the loans is that
1) these people only gave loans to good basketball players (or their parents)
2) traditionally basketball skills aren't correlated w/ creditworthiness

As a side note a former Univ. of Louisville All-American volleyball player recently tweeted that while at UofL she was ruled ineligible by the NCAA after they got word she appeared in some advertisements. It was small time stuff like pillow ads, etc. Once she donated the money she made from modeling to a charity & did community service work she was reinstated.

She was Miss Kentucky and top 15 at Miss USA.

Spoiler:

Yeah, I'm sure that pillow company wanted her because her illustrious career in such a popular sport and had nothing to do with looks.

Please add Arizona and their head coach Sean Miller to the list of coaches and schools that got got. He was overheard on a wiretap talking about paying a student-athlete $100k.

You are quoting something that I said months ago, when it certainly appeared that he was a goner. But good job for finding the post, I guess.

Any amount under $200 can be repaid to charity or whatever as per NCAA rules.

Also I'm not sure I'd trust a spreadsheet of expenses by a 24-yr old. Or anyone.

Hell, lying on your expense reports on Wall St is one of the greatest non-Olympic events of all time. Years ago, I know a guy who lived in Manhattan hotels for a year and expensed it all somehow. People would put through enough fake receipts to buy themselves new cars before things tightened up at big banks.

So what's the likely outcome for a coach facing up to 60 years in prison and $1.5MM in fines?

Has anything remotely similar happened before in college athletics? (a coach being caught on the phone like this)

I don't think golfnutt is suggesting (at least in his last post) that the FBI can only do one thing at a time. I believe the line of thinking that there has got to be bigger crimes going on that the FBI could be investigating instead of NCAA teams cheating the system (which has been known for decades) seems logical.

However, since my team has already been caught up in all this I support the FBI continuing to use their resources in this case until they find all the cheating. Burn this baby to the ground!

You and the FBI better keep a good eye on me as we spend millions of dollars tracking $350,000.
