Earlier this month the University of Toledo qb scored on a 22 yard scramble with 1:22 left. The UT Rockets had trailed by 1 pt while the defense had only one timeout remaining. So he could have slid down at the 1 and kneeled it out before trying a game winning fg.
Not really a coaching decision. Maybe there is a cost to training your players to pull up near the goal line and assess the situation.
