This open to anyone now? If so I have something long-term and not necessarily popular:

Chelsea - Premier League Winner without Man City @ around 40/1

City are gonna walk the league this year.
Liverpool are rightly favourites in this market, but at 1.45 look far too short considering they were matched for long periods against both Chelsea and Southampton in matches already this season. If an injury happens to Salah/Mane they could start to look distinctly average.
Tottenham are 2nd favourites. They've only finished top 2 once in recent history, and that was behind Chelsea 2 years ago
United and Arsenal have had flattering results so far whereas Chelsea have been a lot better than their results, and I think the market has overreacted to their dropped points. Their next 10 fixtures include games against 2 promoted sides and 6 of the 7 teams that finished bottom half last season...if they get into a run of form they could pick up a lot of points and build confidence for their younger players like PULISIC and MOUNT, which will be needed for the rest of the season. The main tough run of fixtures comes in February, giving plenty of times for Chelsea to get MOMENTUM on their side ahead of the crucial fixtures against the main contenders for this market.

I propose Benfica vs Porto Over2.5 Goals at EVENS

Benfica's 3 official matches this year have gone: 5, 5, 2.
Porto has improved in attack (and scored 4 last weak), but the defense still looks very leaky, conceding 2 on the counter (a main weapon for Benfica) against a newly promoted side on week 1 and 3 against a miserable Krasnodar on CL Qualification.

Their most recent 2 games have gone Over2.5 and Benfica's team is mostly the same (except Joao Felix) and Porto seems better than last year on offense and worse on defense.

Looks good to me

FIBA World Cup

The odds on investfair currently stand at

USA 4/9
Serbia 4/1
Greece 12/1
Spain 18/1
France 30/1
and then some stupid stuff including
Australia 40/1
Lithuania 50/1
lolCanada, Argentina 70/1
etc

[Spain&Serbia seem close to locks to get to the semis (because of the draw) - which I think explains their odds.]

I think the market
  • severely underestimates the US's chance of winning - I'd put it close to 80%.
  • underestimates France (anywhere between 4% and 5%).
  • overestimates Greece (similar to France)
  • overestimates Spain (2% or less).
  • and imo the other teams have a collective probability of less than 0.5%.
[Serbia I go back and forth on. the market was giving them 8% then swung this week to 18% - 8% seems too little and 18% too much, but they are playing their cards close to their chest in terms of showing how they will use Jokic (maybe together with Milutinov), so it's hard to evaluate what their top level really is.]

I propose we invest in USA and France ~- with 75% of this investment going on USA and 25% going on France.

(fwiw I think the expected %-returns on selling all the other teams apart from Serbia are good too - but those are bets are 1/10+ )

Back Green Bay +3.5 against Chicago @ 1.86

Fat Mike is gone. A team quarterbacked by Aaron Rodgers is getting more than a field goal against a team quarterbacked by Mitchell Trubisky. This game is still 2 weeks away but the line has gone down from GB +4 to GB +3.5 so we need to get on this free money while we can.

opening up to the whole Partnership, bout 5 Proposal spots open

WARNING: This is NOT a free money proposal, but rather what I think is a solid SKLANSKY BUCKS investment.

Proposal: invest in Snow (P) beating Flash (T) in the Afreeca Starleague Season 8 Finals at 5.5.

Flash goes by many nicknames. Some call him the Ultimate Weapon, others simply call him God, but most would agree on calling him the GOAT. This will be his 5th finals in 7 seasons of ASL, having already won 3 of them. Combined with his 6 MSL and OSL titles, that makes him the most successful Starcraft player of all time.

But wait, I thought you said to bet on Snow?

I did. You see, Flash, as good as he is, isn't infallible. He plays the Terran race, which historically has struggled against the Protoss race, which Snow plays. And Snow just happens to be the best Protoss vs Terran player of all time (at least that's the reputation he carries around).

Let's look at Snow's matches vs Terran in recent major tournaments:

ASL S4: Group stage vs firebathero (W 1-0)

ASL S5: Group stage vs Mong and Last (W 1-0 and W 1-0)

ASL S5: Quarterfinals vs Flash (W 3-2)

KSL S1: Group stage vs Sharp (W 3-0)

ASL S7: Group stage vs Tinkle (W 1-0)

ASL S7: Group stage vs Last (L 0-1)

ASL S8: Quarterfinals vs Last (W 3-0)

As we can see, Snow rarely loses against Terran, even managing to take a best-of-5 series against Flash in ASL S5.

I don't think he's the favorite to win because rooting against Terran, and Flash specifically, always ends in tears, but I believe a 450% ROI is too good a shot to pass up.

I mean you'd think a team that won 10 LEAGUE TITLES in a row could get to the Champions League group stage no?

Back Jon Rahm to shoot lowest gross score at the Tour Championship. Reason, confirmed fat lad, and quite good at hitting little white rocks.

I suggest lowest gross score as it has a weird handicap start format so the big lad may shoot the best but not win. Should be at least 10/1 although it has started so it will drift up and down by the time the bets are placed but I suggest we embrace whatever is offered as it will likely underestimate his chances due to bigger names. Embrace like he embraces Paella.

They have done on many occasions. Name a club from smaller country which has done so more often.

Flash/Snow investment looks good, historically Flash's worst matchup is against Protoss and that's a big price in a two horse race

Miami/Florida UNDER 47

First College Football game of the year.

Miami returns a good amount of talent on defense and last year's Defensive Coordinator is now their head coach, so they have a decent amount of continuity there.

Florida's offensive line is swiss cheese.

Miami is starting a freshman Quarterback.

There may be some turnovers leading to good field position, but ultimately I think both teams will struggle to sustain drives and we are in for an ugly opening game to the College Football Season.

counterpoint, a Khalil Mack that fully knows the defense now and isn't just winging it vs a crappy Pack O-Line.

In no world could I ever vote for this proposal, but I'm more than willing to do a head to head on this if you want at $50. I'll take the beloved to cover (aka, Da Bears!). QTB

I love Chelsea and agree we have performed better than results. But we have no proper striker and we have no chance of being ahead of pool. I do think we'll sneak top 4... Potentially

Ajax? Porto? off the top of my head, and they have actually gotten out of the group stages as well. But you're making my point. The Scottish League is an absolute joke especially since Rangers were punished a few years ago so them winning it 10 times in a row isn't some great achievement and losing to Cluj at home to blow even the chance to qualify for the group stages is very much lol

From countries more than 3 times and twice the size respectively. The Scottish League is not at all a joke. It's the best league for a country its size in Europe and Rangers and Celtic are the two biggest and best clubs in Europe historically pound for pound, i.e. relative to size of country, revenue etc. People only think it's a joke because its neighbour is England. How is it doing compared to the Norwegian league, not bad right?

To add to this Celtic have more history and success than the entirety of club football in your whole countries history. What a joke.

Football in my country is a complete joke. No argument from me there. Judging from your avatar it looks like your statement would apply to you as well.

The point you're missing is it's the very fact that Celtic are supposed to be a "big club" that makes it lol that they can't get to the playoff to make the group stages. And pointing to 10 league titles in a row where their only competition was (rightfully) castrated during that time is also an lol statement.
