Caught the second half of Liverpool - United afterwards, de Gea was poor for both goals imo but obviously Evra was the main culprit for the second, horrible positioning and lack of anticipation.

Boro - Sunderland was a decent game, Boro should have finished with 9 men though.

Mental second half from Villa today. If Walcott spent as much time working on his end product as he does on his celebrations he could be a player.

lol

Then who has been masquerading as him for the past couple of months?

You must not be familiar with the work of Frank Sinclair.
Disagree, every commentator seemed to blame him but we are talking a yard at most here, if the balls doesn't spin the way it did or is a yards the other way he makes the interception, maybe he did pick up a slightly bad position but it wasn't as terrible as people are going on about, 9/10 he collects the breaking ball, you cant anticipated Andy Carroll winning a header

He was at least 3 yards from where he should have been, that's pretty horrible positioning imo.

2nd hand mini tr from me gooner mate he reckons Villa fans gave a good account of themselves, they spent all of the 1st half taking the piss they even made up a song about how quiet it is at the Emirates, Dunno how it goes.

Strangely quiet in the 2nd half though.

Would be interested if you could show me where you think he should have been because I have just watched the goal again and still cant see what was so terrible about it, the spin really added pace to the ball and away from evra. It was an inch perfect flick they maybe could have been stopped if evra reacted slightly faster to the run but i cant see the 3 yard error you are saying, his position wasn't as bad as the media or you are going on about i.m.o, I thought the keepers should have taken a lot more of the blame.

Evra needed to be inside and slightly goal side of Kuyt, not behind him. He did not track that run at all well.

Yeah ceire, try to get a pause/freeze of their positions just as Reina is going to kick the ball.

As mentioned, Evra should be inside and almost touch tight and goal side of Kuyt. He should be tucked in because that's where any immediate danger is going to come from. If he's tucked in and the flick-on goes out wide he'll still have time to get there.

Just when Reina take the Goal Kick:

Andy Carroll winning the header:

Ball bouncing through to Kuyt:

He tries to recover from his original bad positioning and gets a bit unlucky for the ball to go exactly where it went but yeah at the end of the day it's his starting position that lets him down.

OAFK mentioned something about a goal being the platonic ideal of the route one goal. Think this one comes close as well lol.

Lots of bad defending, rafael pushes up while smalling drops deep and plays kuyt onside, agree with ceire I thought De gea should take way more blame it's basically straight at his feet.

I'm in the same boat as you.

He just falls back at the shot, should be saving that as a keeper at this level.

Lindegaard > De Gea?

Praising a manager for doing a fantastic job since taking over a club that was struggling is annoying? Ok.....

Yeah it's annoying because he hasn't the first clue what he's doing. Look at Villa right now trying to recover from the mess he left them in.

The thing is I like Niall Quinn quite a lot, so I don't like seeing O'Neill being lauded for anything he's doing there as he's clearly out for himself and has no interest in the long term future of the club given his tenure at Villa.
