last year: lewis 6/5, seb 7/2, max 9/2

this year: lewis 10/11, seb 7/2, max 9/2

--

changes: slightly fatter wings or something? also drivers now must wear special gloves!

my hot prediction is that british driver lewis hamilton will win the drivers championship

i also predict that we will hear a lot about fernando alonso's career happenings, despite him not being relevant for at least the last half decade

williams havent made it to preseason testing. this is because their car does not travel forwards at the moment, which is a problem. the murmurings are that they're going to be full seconds slower than the 2nd worst car. might be time for claire williams to pack it in and let one of the other doofus kids have a go

my hot tip is that vettel will outperform leclerc by such a huge margin that the kid's career at the top of the sport will be effectively ended before it starts

Unless Ferrari have already imposed huge team orders to favour Vettel, I believe LeClerc is gonna be much better than Vettel this season, he sort of reminds me of a young Vettel, who literally didn't give a fk and drove like a mad man every race in his early days!

you're probably right about Hamilton winning again, especially if Mercedes continue to use Bottas the same way they did last year, they probably ruined at least 5+ of Bottas' races so that Hamilton had an easy time of it.

To be fair Alonso did wing the Rolex 24 hour at Daytona and the Le Mans 24 hour this year.

ya this is what everyone thinks, but ppl are forgetting:

seb is a really good driver,
seb is obv 1000x more familiar with the characteristics of this particular car,
seb is an obsessive german and therefore spent 17.5 hours per day in the offseason plotting underhanded ways to **** his new team mate

Have the worlds top engineering and sporting minds found a way to make overtaking possible without a pit stop or an Inspector Gadget style go faster button?
f1 2019 Quote

The top engineers probably don't want to make overtaking easier since a race with no overtakes suits the fastest cars just fine.

Theory: it's similar to ~all other sports where new strategies are usually make things more defensive (just look at goal scoring averages in football or hockey) so the sports governing bodies introduce new rules to help the offense. Go faster button is F1's equivalent of NFL rules babysitting QBs.

Reverse poll position race(no sandbagging)

That or encourage Max to move around and block in the braking zone even more

While not formula 1 I think we need to lol at Nissan in formula E. They were cruising to a good finish in 3rd and 4th on the final turn with 1% power left crossing the line as the flag was waiving. Minor detail it was the white flag because the dude whos job it is to figure that **** out didn't carry a zero or something and the entire field passed them on the actual last lap. wp

Just do qualifying for the 1st race and then line up every other in reverse order of championship points imo

run qualifying, end up with two pools of cars, top 10 and the rest.

randomise each pool for grid position. get some supermodels to do the drawing or something, make it an event. maybe ask vince mcmahon if he has any ideas about this

that way the ****e stays at the back out of the way, but lewis&co will still have to work their way through the field much of the time

award couple points for finishing 1st in quali to encourage the top cars to really go for it

--

ramblings aside, they've decided to award a championship point to the winner of the fastest lap during the race. not sure how i feel about this. seems needlessly gimmicky, but then the last couple laps of a dead race should be somewhat more interesting

You only get that point if you also finish in the top 10. It will at least add a weird dynamic of guys in the top 10 but no chance to win but a large gap from the guy behind stopping last for super soft tires. I think they are trying to avoid the guy in 15th getting fresh tires and racing hard vs a guy on the podium.

into episode 3 of the Netflix F1 documentary.
It's more exciting than the season was. If they ran F1 coverage like reality TV, it would be bloody amazing.

Yeah it was really good, watched them all and all the drama you never see was great.
Spoiler redbull episode
Spoiler:
I started laughing when Renault team director told Horner the dude from Redbull "Now you need a driver and an engine for next year."

Some of the slow mo HD shots were also amazing and from angles that weren't on tv

My favorite bit was the McLaren techs predicting correctly that Grosjean wouldn’t make it through the first corner

Apparently Renault will pay Ricciardo $35 million in salary this year, pretty much tripling his RB salary. This is vs $4.6M for his team mate Hulkenberg and $13.5M for Max.

This, hopefully he wins the 500, he’s been really unlucky in his career imo should have really won more champions that his skill deserves.

The most interesting thing this year is how the Honda engine performs. My guess is Horner has the last laugh. Also the series is done by the same guy that did Senna and his editing is again really biased. Which is a shame.
