Yes. Unfortunately, ESPN is taking over next year.

I'm sure even with ESPN at the helm, Liberty Media won't let it be a **** product.

The US is their #1 growth market and having ESPN do a **** job of broadcasting it is not the way to grow the sport.

ESPN sucks at everything. I’m sad to hear that they are getting it.

kind of a shame we didn't get a proper title showdown, but otoh **** ferrari

fingers crossed that renault can make a bit of a leap over the winter, a balanced fight between merc/ferrari/red bull next year would be most compelling

If you're straight up putting the same Renault engine from the RB into the McLaren, they will be right up there.

That McLaren is as fast, if not faster than the RedBull in the corners. It was incredible through the first sector at Suzuka.

im skeptical b/c

1) RB have been designing their 2018 car around the upcoming renault engine all this time, mclaren have not. its going to be a bit of a bodge job

2) RB working relationship with renault is obv much more established, they know how to work with each other even if they get on each others tits. mclaren are just starting out on this front

3) newey

Yeah, good points. The great thing about the McLaren is that it's a great chassis and has a solid suspension design. That shouldn't be changed much with a new engine. All of the front aero parts won't be affected by a wider/narrower/taller engine unit, but obviously they will have some work to do at the rear. I wouldn't mind betting that they've been planning their '18 car with a Renault engine for some time.

There were some reports that Renault stopped offering RB any support after they decided to call it a 'Tag Heuer' engine rather than Renault. Who knows, but if McLaren are paying the $$$ then I think they'll probably get some hand.

Your third point is completely valid and I have no answer. Newey is a genius.

All of their Aero work is probably out the window if they get a good Renault engine because none of it is designed to work at more than 150mph

max extended his rb contract a year

prolly a similar situation to dele alli/kane at spuds where the team goes 'look kid you're on **** all money and will continue to be on **** all money until your contract runs out, how about you extend a year and we'll start paying you right now'

Not gonna make it this year unfortunately

Went Thursday for a private event for Williams and got to see Ferrari crew doing some pit runs and met MASSA and Sean Bratches. Was pretty cool
