We liked a player at a certain price, and that a deal might be able to be done quickly. I think it is much smarter to walk away when the price goes to a level you don't like rather than overpaying. There are a ton of talented attacking midfielders available across Europe. There are a handful that we could certainly get for cheaper than Buendia that I like better. Not saying such would happen, but I prefer Odegaard, Kamada and Aouar still. We were also linked to Brandt earlier this year for 25ish, I'd prefer him as well.

Yea that's fair. I wasn't a huge fan of the Buendia signing despite his obvious attributes and I think he will be doing amazing work at Villa as a Grealish replacement.

Would love Grealish at Arsenal, but that feels the same tier as Haaland, Mbappe category as far as probabilities of them joining are concerned.
