great to see rayo back in the bright lights
no idea why luca zidane decided to ruin their la liga opener by getting sent off and gifting sevilla a pk 15' on the clock though

lamela brace in his debut

"As of today, the debt is €1,350 million. The economic and patrimonial situation is very worrying and the financial situation is dramatic." -Laporta

..but its fine according to daca

the debt number isnt really the right number. this is from the last financial accounts, so before the last season of covid. today it's going to be like 200m worse but not much more than that

he's going gung ho on bartomeu because the worse the situation looks the better laporta will look (also bartomeu deserves it)

they'll be fine

this is relevant

barca have to achieve certain ratios, and if they dont then their long-term lenders can demand payment immediately

their books state they are due to repay about 200m in long-term debt by 2024, but they might be forced to find that a lot sooner (like, tomorrow).

the narrative states that they struck a deal for breathing room until june 2021, who knows if that was enough to sort their ratios out. they better hope their lenders dont turn the screws

--

not so relevant but nonetheless amusing, this is what they were owed on players sold, and what they owed on players bought as at 30 june 2020

sold/owed

bought/owe

still owed 70m for coutinho lol, should be down to 40m now

How can they have owed 50 million for Pjanic?

guessing juve paid in full up front and barca paid (will pay) over time, and double guessing that such a payment schedule suited both parties for ffp crap

Wolfsburg kicked out of the German Cup because Van Bommel made too many subs, in his first match in charge.

Wolfsburg are considering their legal options. What options? Sue the 4th official for not stopping you making the sub?

Epic mismanagement and thievery.

They are well and truly ****ed financially whatever daca says.

Amazingly they might be competitive for second in the league anyway.

Wolfsburg claim that they asked the 4th official wether they could make another sub and they say he didn't stop them. Judge said it doesn't matter, it's still on the club to not make that sub.

I find this rule super weird. It basically says that you can make as many subs as you want during a game, but if it was too many, you'll be punished by the courts days after the game. WTF, what are the officials for in a game of football then, if not to enforce the rules of the game?

If a goal was scored (and given) from an offside position, it is still held up afterwards. We call this a "Tatsachenentscheidung" (factual decision) in Geman. It accounts for human fallibility in interpreting the laws of the game in in-the-moment decisions. So to not interrupt the flow of the game, even wrong decisions by the referee are held up.

So if a 4th official allows you to make a sub, it should be held up, and the 4th official should get a stern talking to to get his **** together next game.

by that rationale stuttgart would have beaten leeds back in the day

There was no 4th official back then, but yeah, if nobody noticed during the game, Stuttgart should have won that.

Same with Helmer's "Phantomtor". I mean, that was a hilariously bad mistake by the referee, but still.
