I've always been (and still am) an avid supporter of VAR.
But if anyone wants to see why it might not even matter if you have VAR or not, check the highlights of Benfica vs Porto today.
They do have VAR, and they still managed to get everything wrong.

they managed to have a VAR that convinced the ref to see a play where nothing even slightly controversial happened and miss two keys plays that could have/should have been overturned, amazing performance

I believe VAR has been a very positive experience in the league so far.
Today was ****ing atrocious though.

VAR is only going to be as good as the referees in charge of it. It's why they have such a hard time with it in England. All of the refs are absolutely ****.

So you're saying it's subject to human error? Just like normal refereeing?

I've been accused on here for old-man-yells-at-cloud-ing for vehemently opposing VAR from day one, but that really doesn't hold any water when you take into account that I think Goal Line Tech is the absolute nut GÖAT ÖAT addition to the game. It's 100% correct, and it's instantaneous.

VAR = AIDS, and if you think I'm wrong, you're wrong.
