i only watched the highlights from yesterday but the simeone 4-4-2 has almost always been more like a 4-2-2-2 in attack with the wide midfielders moving inside

Did Greizmann mostly play as a forward last year or did he start in midfield and swap positions with a forward like Felix did last night?

almost always as a forward/second striker. a few games they shifted him out on the wing in the second half and maybe costa and morata started a couple together with griezmann out wide

So maybe a slight change in tactics this year? Probably depending on who is playing up front. It's a natural swap with Lemar but probably not if it's Costa/Morata starting together.

I'm definitely looking forward to the start of La Liga more so this year then in year's past. I think Barca easily win the league again but am hoping that Atletico and Madrid can stay close and make it a little more interesting this year.

maybe/probably some tactical changes yeah. they could play some 4-3-3 too which i think would really help saul for example. but when they have tried different approaches in the past they've always returned to the standard simeone style.

my main worry though is they still lack some attacking quality in terms of players. i would feel a lot better about them if they had one more quality creative player

i think a lot depends on the rest of the window. right now there seems to be a gap between barca and the other two, but if madrid get neymar and atletico get james all three of them will look strong.
