I also support Bordeaux in Ligue uh. Reason being that I had the best meal of my entire European 3-month backpacking trip there a while ago. They are pretty underwhelming football-wise though.

French league is probably the one I follow the least. I guess I like Marseille, only because I have a sleeveless training shirt I got for like $8.

No one knows **** in the usa anyway, so there's no one to accuse you of being plastic or phony, but do most people have a club they support in every league? By support I mean at the minimum keep an eye on and hope they win.

Going to have to find a way to make the Forsterei the first German ground I do twice. That of the BL to do list I have Golfsburg and three nowhere near them might work as an excuse

Haha it's similar for me, when I first decided to follow ligue 1 I thought about rooting for Lille because I've actually been there but they don't seem very interesting. So when I saw a Girondins shirt that I liked for 10€ that was it.

I personally don't have teams in other leagues. Used to be a fairly legit Arsenal fan (as much as you can be without being born into it) but that waned. Now I just root for teams where I like the players. Same in La Liga, don't follow Serie A at all.

Make it Golfsburg-Schalke (in march I believe) and we can meet up!

I do. Some I care more about, some less. Mostly chosen on the same basis as Bordeaux - how much I liked or disliked a city when I visited. As good a reason as an accident of birthplace, I suppose.

Can't speak for "most people", since I live in New York, and most of football supporters I talk with here are foreign-born anyway, with their own allegiances. You do see a good number of football shirts on weekends around here, but they rarely surprise you.

I don't support any team besides Werder.
I like Sandhausen in BL 2 cause it's the closest ground to me.
I watch the Premier League every week, and have some sympathy for Arsenal, but mostly only root against City/Chelsea.
Same with Spain, like to watch the football, but only root against Real.
Seria A, Ligue Uh I haven't viewed in a decade at least.

sounds like Atlanta. everyone is an expert on the premier league and will talk your ear off, but the minute the conversation goes away from that they have nothing to say.

To be fair, EPL media coverage here is just so much better than any other league's.

There's also a great deal of interest around here in EuroCup, which pleases me. In certain parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn it's hard to find a place to tie up your bicycle when it's on. Americans usually don't care about tournaments that US isn't part of.

I'm firmly in the pro Barca antit Real camp. I like Arsenal. Don't follow LÖL italy. Never followed Ligue Öh, and most definitely won't now that they allowed a team from a foreign country to participate (and no, I don't mean Monaco).

Lille will be interesting this year. They splashed around a bunch of cash and also got Marcelo Bielsa to manage the team. Marseille also with Frank McCourt buying the club has made some moves. Should be a pretty good battle for the 3rd CL spot between Lyon, Marseille, Lille and Nice.

Is Pulisic starting for Dortmund in the German Super Cup today? How prestigious is the GSC? Will both clubs be running out their "A" squads?

Doesn't mean anything is put a bit too harsh, imo.

It obviously doesn't mean a lot whether you win or lose, but it's an official match, no unlimited substitutions or 30 minutes per half pre-season-shenanigans. It's on German public TV at prime time. Both teams field their best available XIs.

I remember a time when this wasn't even a recognised competition, so still is a no.
