Anyone know where you find those standings? I dont want to do them by hand.

Denmark played well today, but Norway were very poor.

Germany xpertly trying to stay in pot 2. Müller didn't get the memo.

Also I agree with what Kahn said on TV, we played really well in 4-2-3-1, no need to switch to a 4-1-4-1. I hope it's not the plan to stay with it, I kind of agree that the reason we look horrible against counterattacks is to be found in the system.

the "best 2nd placed advancing" system is flawed

the groups with 6 nations have a clear disadvandage, the result vs their worst opponent(very easy points most of the time) wont count which is a big increase of the quality of competition in comparison to the 5 team groups(who can keep their very easy opponent like cyprus or liechtenstein)

but they get a team from the "cyprus or liechtenstein" tier also.

So on the level you mention it's still completely fair

Yeah pretty much. If we beat Liechtenstein and Spain beat Czechs we'll be one point ahead going into the last fixture (Spain v Scotland, Lithuania v Czechs). If we finish level points we're out so really we need a Lithuania win cause sadly no chance we can even battle for a point in Spain

The whole point is results against teams from pot 6 are taken out of the equation. Obviously 5 team groups don't have a team from pot 6

You can call him a square, but I'd be quite shocked if a team other then those 3 ended up winning.

They always seem to get a couple decent results during qualifying

WC '06
Draws with Slovakia and Portugal

Euro '08
Beat Latvia 1-0 and Iceland 3-0

WC '10
Draw v Finland

This Campaign
4 points out of 6 v Lithuania
Scotland needed 97th minute winner at Hampden to beat them

lol just found this video looking for the goal

and you should be, since at 1.7 they are supposed to be ~60% to win it all. I just laughed at

Quote:
Seems quite generous to me looking at the "quality" of the closest opposition, France/Italy/England all look incapable of winning. Portugal could spring a surprise, but the 1.7 looks solid.
how the hell does someone who says a thing like this know whether Germans/Spainiards/Dutch are 50, 60, 70 or whatever percent to win it all. Anyone so knowledgeable could never have any idea whether 1.7 is "solid" here or not, so they should (as I do when I bet sports :P) just click it and have fun sweating.

sports betting is hard

Ok guys, there is something that is really bugging me during this international break. Spain lacked defensive (pique and puyol out) talent so a bunch of youth guys were taken along. I'm aware that arbeloa can play any position in the defensive line but if there is a position we are lacking a competent player it is left back! Especially as it seems that Capdevila is retiring.
Now the interesting part, why is del Bosque not inviting José Enrique? I thought he was one of the better left backs in the EPL? Haven't seen him play yet, so I was wondering if you guys could figure it out for me?

I was suspecting somethin along the lines of "all legs, no brain" If he's mediocre at passing and holding the ball, that could be a reason.
Will try to see some Liverpools games for myself to figure it out...

it was a mere opinion, and some people who dont know what the markets think of it might consider it interesting. Are you still giddy at getting a draw in a friendly or something? It wasn't a professional tip, calm down

and I bet sports so rarely they can't love me much Having wagered about 100-150$ so far in my life, I don't feel robbed either

tl;dr - they love noobs who think they know things just as much as they love people who just accept it's all likely to be a losing proposition

even shorter: 99,5% sports bettors are suckers (unless they make vigfree bets with their friends)
