spurs window is A-, not even really bothered about missing on skriniar. inter wanted ridiculous money and could have taken long time to adapt to tblitw.
got in a kane backup, top lb prospect, competition for aurier and a starting cm. literally plugged every hole in the squad, capped it off by bringing a club legend and potentially still a top10 player in the world on loan. still could sign joe rodon.

loaned parrott, skipp, foyth and sessegnon to good teams. hopefully clarke will get loaned to championship. too bad we couldnt shift rose and gazza.

Wonder if City going to make Ake as their main LB or is the Mendy era really going to continue.

Who's the alternate with Romeu as deep centre midfielder? Diallo?

i dont really get the point of owning your own country if you cant even get a decent leftback for your football team

Cliffs:
- Dortmund were clear and firm with their €120m valuation all summer but United didn't believe them
- United put off all their other transfers for most of the summer because they thought this was happening, explaining the mess yesterday
- United's original wage proposal for Sancho was actually for less than he is currently earning at Dortmund. Their second one only brought him to parity with his current deal.
- Woody actually wanted to pay more but the board blocked him
I mean, lol but they are still better organised than we are.

3/10 for our window. Making Soucek permanent was a must and his mate at right back looks like he can play. Binning Wilshere is obviously a plus, but we should never have signed him in the first place and it is good to have held onto Rice. We failed to plug any of the numerous gaps (left back, centre back) and still have a lot of big wages that aren't in the first team.

What's the deal with Felipe Anderson? Why are you soon keen to bin him off?

He isn't in the side and is probably our highest earner. He's a good player but blows far too hot and cold and really isn't keen on defensive work, which makes him kind of redundant in the formation that we favour at the moment. Last season he scored once and set up four goals in the league. That isn't good enough given what he must be pulling down.

There's a bit of a crisis affecting football clubs' incomes at the moment and we don't all have billionaire owners that can lend or invest money for transfers. We did sign Dale Stephens and a third choice keeper to replace Hendrick and Hart.

Yes, I'd have liked to have seen another signing or two for the first team squad, but with the money we have available it's difficult, if not impossible to sign players better than what we already have and we can't really afford to take risks on unproven and expensive prospects. We've had a lot of injuries to start the season and we can't afford to go out and buy £10-20m players to cover for those injuries, when everyone is fit the squad is more than capable of finishing mid-table. The situation with Ben Gibson and Joe Hart has probably made the board reluctant to spend money as well.

We can still sign players from the Championship for another couple of weeks, which is where we usually do our shopping, so I haven't given up hope of new players just yet.

We've signed 6 players for the academy, which has just been granted Category 1 status, so perhaps that is the strategy going forward in these uncertain times.

Apparently Atleti was really not happy with us for triggering the release clause through the Spanish FA and not really notifying the club at all.

I also read that Atleti tried increasing the buyout clause for a few seasons now. How does it work in Spain? You need to modify the player's contract and notify the FA or does the Spanish FA need to grant it first?

Do Atleti not follow any football news outlets? It was pretty bloody clear this was going to happen. They had plenty of notification. Yes, it's a (release) clause in the contract, and a contract can't be amended without the agreement of both parties (player and club).

From the Athletic its something to do with Spanish law regarding employees. Meant to be related to wages as well.

They said it also gives them 30 days to replace him, so they effectively have their window extended for 30 days for 1 player.

In the same vein, from the Athletic piece on Sancho, Dortmund seemed surprised United never really seemed to take their target seriously

We negotiated with them for months and submitted numerous proposals including player swaps and were stonewalled every time and told to pay the release clause.

So we paid the release clause. **** them. Should have pulled Torreira off the table at the last minute too.
