We badly need a LB. I like Williams but be spent most of his career in the academy at RB so he's really only being used there as an emergency. Shaw cannot stay fit and isn't good enough when he is. Not like there's a shortage of decent LB's out there either Reguillion/Grimaldo/Telles would all be significant upgrades and then you could throw money at Chilwell or huge money at Alaba.

I think he mostly played LB in the academy actually. Prob only played RB when Laird was injured, which was a fair bit but still, he's not exactly new to the position.

Agree with your point though, we'd be better off with a left footer there. Rashford for example seems to play way better with Shaw than Williams.

I don't think Bayern are trying to sell. From what I've read he wants the move and he has 10 months on his contract.

Bayern want him to stay, but if he won't extend selling seems like the only option.

If they can get €30M for him and instead let him leave on a free next year, they're effectively paying €800k a week for him (current wage + €30m from a sale).

He's a phenomenal player, but he's not worth €800k per week for one year where he could be injured and where he doesn't want to be there.
Bayern are still going to walk the league with how good they are under Flick, assuming Lewandowski doesn't get injured. Their midfield is still very good with a Kimmich + Goretzka duo, and they also have Cuisance who could grow into a great player. I don't think it's worth essentially paying +€40M to keep Thiago just so the team is better in their strongest XI (when he isn't injured).

Unless selling means they'll sign Havertz, if they plan on doing that they should definitely keep Thiago.

I think he goes down with the ship, what else can he do? He wanted a new board and probably Xavi as the coach to start a new project, instead Koeman will be the scapegoat, while Bartomeu & co. sell a bunch of players to balance the books and save their asses. If Barcelona will be in the red in 2021, the current board has to pay that amount. Messi's contract expires in 2021, too.
