]Granted, this is still an extremely short sighted move by Barcelona. And that's what I refered by mentioning Bartomeu in the first bit here. There is 1 year until election, and if Barca don't dramatically improve, I cannot imagine that Bartomeu won't be gone. And whilst a big risk, I think going YOLO for Pjanic is still more likely to potentially turn the ship around immediately (for Bartomeu more than anyone), than to keep Arthur and make a rebuild that might take a while. Not to mention that due to Messi's age, they do need to act now, or else it will be rebuild on the menu.

Ultimately I in no way agree with what Barcameu are doing, but it does make "sense" from this perspective. Arthur could easily become a world beater, and Pjanic could continue to be bang average, but in the name of idiotic shortsightedness, that's a risk Barto is willing to run; he knows his legacy will be poor if he loses next year, no matter if it's due to things remaining the same or due Barca ****ing up majorly with a transfer like this. This transfer is essentially him going all-in with a below average hand, imo.

Barto can’t be re-elected. This is 100% about the club needing the money to balance the books for this fiscal year

people always call transfers of players with one year left on their contracts "steals". then later they learn what wages the player is getting and they go "wow that's insane"

it's even worse than when they think free transfers are always cheap

Where I'm at for that is for certain clubs it doesn't matter (Juve, bayern, city, united maybe 1-2 more) but most others it matters a little or a lot.

Don't know what players you're referring to but there are quite a few players at soon to be relegated PL clubs that would make useful squad players for most of the top 6-8 imo. I'd happily take a couple of Brooks, Ake, Buendia, Aarons, Grealish, Rice for the right price.

This rumor is still out there and hasn't been denied by the ITK Liverpool Journo's. Usually, James Pearce or Melissa Reddy deny these rumors right away but they've been silent so far.

I still don't think it's happening but I'm all for it if we do end up signing him.

it's basically the same as sending him on loan while paying a large share of his contract which happens fairly often. pay x% of his remaining wages. let him find somewhere that will pay the rest

I don't care what he does, we're champions without him and we would've won the league even earlier if Hazard or Asensio weren't injured so much time. We don't need him. But imagine being so dumb that you celebrate somedoby not taking his job seriously, or not respecting his teammates. You gotta be really stupid to think he's a winner in all this and he's balling. Imagine Kobe or Jordan thinking this way. The guy is playing for Real Madrid and acting like white trash who just won the lottery and some people celebrate that.
