I enjoyed this one, altough I think it is pretty lol to blame it all on one person.

Trump did look like an ******* when he couldn't even laugh about the 3 dollar check 25 years later.

Anything with Donald Trump as the central figure is fantastic. Plus you got some bonus Steiner action, shame they didn't get him giggling at some point.

As someone who didn't know much about the USFL, the documentary has been awesome so far.

Almost ashamed to admit it, but I didn't know that:

1. The USFL was the first to implement the 2 point conversion
2. The USFL was the first to implement instant replay.
3. Donald Trump is THAT much of an ego-centric *******. After watching this, I wonder whether he understands life. Besides the making money part, it doesn't seem he's good at any of the other parts.

Claiming that the USFL invented the 2 point conversion is laughably false. Its the kind of blatant factual error that makes me question the legitimacy of the entire show. It is crazy that they left that quote in there.

The 2 point conversion has been in college football since 1958.

So they can't really claim it as they try to.

The extreme amount of bias these documentaries are showing are kind of beginning to bother me though. I'm obviously going to keep watching though.

I feel like a failure as a sports fan not knowing that Young/Kelly/etc started in the USFL though. Seriously, had absolutely no idea.

had no clue they got that many big name players...pretty decent show.

So far, I have liked the shows, but have not been overwhelmed.

Yeah, I guess the bias is inevitable when the directors are given complete control. If ESPN came up to me and was like we will give you 52 minutes to say whatever you want on our network, talking about how my boss 20 years ago was a complete douche would be a pretty fun project.

the USFL documentary probably would have been better if they just talked about the games and players.


Next weeks Ali-Frazier should be epic since Ali is da greatest.

AFL did it in the 60's also.

1) they didn't claim the USFL was the first time the 2-point conversion was used, ever....they claimed it was the first time a pro league used it.

2) I was a big fan of the USFL and had season tickets to the Jacksonville Bulls. Hell, I even went to their open tryout when Lindy Infante was the coach. It was a fun league and the football was damn good. It was obvious then that Trump ruined the league with his lawsuit, and while I enjoyed the film, he wasn't really saying anything new. Trump WAS the villain- it was obvious then and it's obvious now.

I feel really stupid after watching the USFL documentary. Had no idea so many HoF players played in that league. One can only imagine the change in NFL history books if the USFL never existed. Would montana have 4 rings? Would Herschel walker be regarded as one of the best running backs of all time (not that he isn't, but when people talk best running backs of all time, his name rarely gets mentioned). Would Kelly/Young have more superbowl appearances?

Those Herschel clips were just ridiculous. He was running away from DBs like they were high school kids.

I liked it. I learned some stuff I didn't know, and it is football so I'm an easy customer. I had a bunch of "oh ****.." moments for stuff I either forgot or didn't know.

Too much of the director in the story, but I guess that is part of the idea behind the whole thing so I can't really complain too much.

USFL was the best doc of them all so far. I knew about all the great players in it from the HOF exhibit on other pro leagues when I went to Canton earlier this year. Didn't know much else about it though and was awesome findiing out.

I looked up Walker's USFL stats from his final season (85):

438 carries, 2411 yards, 5.5 ypc, 21 TD
37 catches, 467 yards, 12.1 ypc, 1 TD

Granted they played 18 games (I think?) but still lol.

First play, straight up the middle, runs over two linebackers and is still fast enough to outrun the safeties to the corner from nearly a dead stop.

0:24 when he runs over Bill Bates. This was Herschel's first drive as a college football player. Bill Bates was a senior and would be an All-SEC LB that year. Hahahahahaha.

1:06 This is absolutely unreal... There are THREE defensive backs with a ridiculous angle on him, maybe ten yards in front. And he blows by them. Everytime I see this play, I have to watch at least three times.

2:27 He leaps over a pile for a first down, gets hit mid-air and lands on his feet, waltzes into the endzone.

It's really too bad his legacy isn't remembered the way it could have been because of the USFL thing. He was the first prototypical back who could run over linebackers easily and outrun cornerbacks. He did lead the NFL in rushing one year and total yards another, although his career was hampered somewhat by a team trading their entire soul for him.

Just watched all 3...pretty good, none of them were excellent, but for ESPN im pleased. think the USFL is my favorite, Gretzky a close 2nd bc I didn't really know the story.

I was listening to Colin Cowherd and Peter King talk about this today. Not only did the NFL eventually implement some of the USFL rules, but Cowherd made the point that 5 or 6 players on the NYG Superbowl team were fresh out of the USFL (Sean Landeta is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head).

Is the USFL one available online anywhere? I can't seem to find it.

I read a stat the other day claiming that 15 players who played in the USFL the year before made the Pro Bowl in 86.
