The thing about Buster that irks me is he was actually a VERY talented fighter. Had trouble with focus/discipline but physically he had the tools to be as good as any heavyweight fighter.
I was a broke college student when that fight happened. For whatever reason I decided to buy HBO for one month just to see the fight - which everyone expected to be another blowout.
Before the Tyson/Biggs fight my buddy was going around saying he had a good feeling about Biggs. After the fight, "You got a good feeling about Biggs?" became his nickname basically for many many years.
We weren't particularly rooting for Douglass. It was more fun to guess how many seconds the next tomato can would last. When Tyson got knocked down we were stunned. When was fumbling around for his mouthpiece we all started jumping up and down and yelling. It was such an inconceivable moment.
I guess helmet catch would be the closest thing I can think of in modern times. Or Mississippi St. beating the UCONN women is probably closer but w/o quite the scope.
